Upstate single foster mamas, find each other and find encouragement and strength  to keep going. Here’s their story from their different perspectives-- Hannah, Anderson foster mom--When I felt the Lord was leading me to foster, I initially thought I needed to wait until I was married. Not necessarily for licensing purposes, but to simply qualify as a good family placement for a child. This wasn't true, of course, and God made it very clear that I didn't need anyone else to qualify me for what He called me to, all I needed was Him.  Fostering multiple kids in general is challenging, b ..read more

This is WHY your investment into the lives of children who’ve experienced early child abuse and neglect MATTERS. Their brains spent so long surviving, sometimes they didn’t have time to develop all the other emotional, developmental, and social skills they need to thrive. We’ve been able to partner with this foster family to watch this child bloom! Here’s a note from his Oconee foster Mom and Dad about the miracles they’ve gotten a front row seat to watch! We all love this happy and affectionate boy! Come foster faithfully and you can see miracles happen, too. January 25, 2024: We had our firs ..read more

Many years ago we accepted placement of precious twins from the hospital as newborns. They were adopted at 3 years old. The adoptive mom always sent me Mother's Day cards and Christmas cards over the years. I made a photo album book for them when they left, and they talk fondly of looking through it. Their mother was open about the adoption, and we saw them a year after they were adopted.  When they turned fifteen, they found us again. Over the years since then, we have enjoyed keeping in contact with the sisters. It is amazing the little things they remember when they lived with us, “Eve ..read more

“ B came into our care in early January of this year. The semester before foster care she had only taken two classes in high school and failed them both. She enrolled in an entirely different school located in a different school district, and with encouragement in addition to clear expectations, B received the support she needed to successfully finish the Spring 2023 semester with an A and B’s in two of those classes she had retaken due to the failed grades from the semester before. Throughout that semester, Bailey had seen such growth that she started thinking about possible career paths and ..read more

Celebrating with a local teen in foster care!

We got this celebration message from a local foster Mom who stepped out in faith to foster a teenager in her 20s. As it turns out, even if she’s never parented, she’s just the right parent for the job! “She got her driving permit! What a great way to wrap up an unbelievably hard year for her. This school year, she was enrolled at 3 high schools in 2 school districts, lived in countless places (motels, group home, campers, apartments, couches, etc), did home bound for a semester,  walked to a restaurant to do her school work to have WIFI, was taken into foster care, then life got completel ..read more

Salute to local Foster Dads !

Thank you to the ultimate “influencers”—-DADS! We are thankful for every foster father who says YES to parenting children who are not theirs for a season, or for forever! Your extravagant love matters. Your tender hugs, Dad jokes, and strong arms help heal lives that someone else de-valued. Thank you for taking in children and youth, at all hours of the night, and doing what you have to do to make them feel safe, and still saying yes with a lot of unknowns. Thank you for being willing to attend more sporting events, late night study sessions, doctor’s appointments, activity drop offs, DSS visi ..read more

Fostering Older Children: Our Greatest Need
Fostering Faithfully Blog

One of our greatest needs locally is for families to step up to foster children older than 10, especially teens. One local family waded into these waters this year and this is the foster mom’s reflections on the experience so far! We began this fostering journey with respite care and emergency placement (a great first step), with an open heart for whatever the Lord had in store. Our first emergency placement was for a 14 year old boy... I was very nervous when they told me his age. This was older than what we had signed up for. I expected a visibly rebellious kid and for some reason I hid all ..read more

When I called, you answered me; you greatly emboldened me. Psalm 138 A Seneca Foster Mom Shares Her First Experience Welcoming a Teen in Foster Care…(since this experience there have been many, many others she’s hosted! ) “For our 4th placement, we agreed to take an 11-year-old girl. For us, this was a good fit since we had our own 11-year-old daughter at the time. We met up with the caseworker in the Lowe's parking lot in Easley.  She was finishing up signing papers with the family that was taking the four-year-old sister. The case worker looked at us with tired eyes and introduced us to ..read more

A Christmas Homecoming: And a Foster Mom Who Never Gave Up On Reunification

From Pickens County foster mom: On August 7, 2018 we got “the” call at 2am. It was THE call we had been waiting on because we had room for 2 more kids in our house for an emergency placement. Two children needed a warm bed and a safe place to sleep for a couple days the placement worker said. We said we could keep them for up to a week. Placement didn’t know much except drugs were involved. How hard could a couple days be? That next week we went to court for the probable cause hearing. We saw a mom that looked broken, scared, and worried about her kids but we also saw a woman who didn't know a ..read more
