As we approach Easter, we are reminded of the profound message of hope and renewal that the resurrection of Jesus Christ brings to our lives. In Luke 24:46-47, Jesus shared with His disciples the fulfillment of prophecy:  “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.” This divine revelation unveils the heart of Easter—the triumph of love over sin, the victory of life over death.  In his book, Hope in Times of Fear, Ti ..read more

With March being Social Worker Month, we want to give thanks for our amazing Lifeline social workers. McKenzie Bussman is one of our social workers, and we want to highlight her contributions to God’s ministry through Lifeline.  When McKenzie moved to Birmingham, Alabama, to attend college at Samford University, she knew she wanted to help people through a future career. Still, she was unsure how that would look. While attending Samford, McKenzie began interning with Lifeline Children’s Services. As a result of her time at Lifeline, she began heavily considering social work as a career pa ..read more

In August 2022, a family completed their adoption of their two kids, a son (8 at the time) and a daughter (6 at the time). During the family’s two-month post-call with their social worker, the mom stated that their two kids had begun talking about their older sister. Though they didn’t have a lot of memories of her, they couldn’t stop talking about her,  and wondering if she could come live with them. The children longed to see her again. Though the family did not desire to adopt again, both parents wanted to do their due diligence regarding their kids’ eldest sibling. Our team investigat ..read more

2023 has been such an exciting year for us as we recently welcomed a baby girl into our home! We were anxious to begin the adoption process in 2022 after struggling with infertility for over a year. After applying with Lifeline, and completing the required training, we became a waiting family in May of this year. In July, we received a call that we had been matched with a baby girl in North Carolina, not too far from where we live. This baby girl had a number of medical needs that were being cared for in the hospital. We were told to pack a bag for at least two nights, just in case we would s ..read more

Sarah and Mark* attended Families Count, Lifeline’s family restoration and preservation ministry for parents seeking permanency with their children. Both Sarah and Mark gave their lives to the Lord after the last session. During graduation, Mark knelt and proposed to Sarah! They joined the church shortly after, were baptized, and became a part of a community group. The women of the church put together an amazing wedding for them, including a reception and, later, a photo album.   Sarah and Mark, trapped in a dysfunctional living environment, found assistance from the church. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6 As Christ followers, we take heart in a world full of trouble because we have ultimate hope, the hope of Christmas. We rest with assurance that the Prince of Peace gave up His rights and humbled Himself to come as a helpless baby so that He could pay the price for our sins – a debt we never could pay ourselves.   When sin entered the world in the garden, everything changed.
