Man, do I love me some double oaked whiskey! It seems that most whiskey drinkers feel the same way.
I am about to review another one - 2XO American Oak. And, I can't wait!
Dixon Dedman, the original creator of Kentucky Owl before the brand was purchased by Stoli in 2017, is behind 2XO. His American Oak is positioned as the affordable option in the 2XO line. They are "twice-oaking" the whiskey by inserting 8-10-foot charred oak chains into the barrel, which equate to about 75% of the surface of a new barrel.
How well will this process work? Well, let's see!

Smoke Wagon Bottled in Bond Rye has finally started hitting Florida, so I HAD to pick up a bottle. I couldn't wait to taste this one. I love me some ryes, but this one is different. It has a high corn mashbill that sounded like it was going to offer a unique flavor profile.
What can I expect from a rye whiskey that has 45% corn in its mashbill? Will it taste sweet and spicy?
Watch the full review for my notes! Cheers!

Are you a sucker for distillery-only whiskey bottles? There are a bunch, but one in particular has eluded me - Evan Williams 12 Year.
Guys, there are days where I REALLY love that I get to make these videos for you all. Today, I am lucky enough to be able to review a sample of it. This bottle is known as the red labeled Evan Williams export-only bourbon that was sold exclusively in Japan. Now, you can buy the bottle at the Evan William’s Experience in downtown Louisville. The bourbon has remained a distillery exclusive in the U.S. while still being exported to Japan.

We all have our unicorn bottles that we hope to find on store shelves while whiskey hunting. We are going beyond those bottles today!
In light of a recent auction that netted a $2.7mm sale of a rare Macallan bottle, I decided to create a list of bottles that I would recommend to you IF you hit the lottery. These are all bottles that I have personally tasted and would recommend to anyone with the funds to purchase them....if you can find them!
Enjoy the ONLY whiskey show of its kind!!

Broken Barrel brings a unique approach to aging their whiskey - they finish it with barrel staves. Some whiskey nerds frown on this practice, saying it is cheating and that aging it appropriately is the only way to go.
I really don't care what anyone else says. I need to taste everything myself and I'll try anything once…. Well, almost anything.
I have four bottles of theirs here and I tried them all!

A couple weeks ago, we were talking about High Proof Easy Drinking Whiskeys. Today, we are looking at High Proof Whiskeys That Drink Hot as Hell! These whiskeys are not for the faint of heart!
The bottles in this episode are definitely not for those that do not like their whiskey to burn. All four of the bottles I have chosen are whiskeys that have been recommended over and over again by many reviewers. My goal is to warn you before you buy them for the first time. If you are not acclimated to higher proof whiskeys, you may want to start with the bottles I called ..read more
