Etihad offer a number of ways to purchase and/or boost Guest miles. I assume that Tier miles can only be acquired through flight activity but I want to be sure. I'm only 1200 tier miles short from the next tier and I have a long international leg coming up. It would be nice to get to the next tier before I take that flight. I am flying from Houston to Abu Dhabi in Economy. Flight is sold by Etihad but has an American Airlines leg from Houston to Chicago. Baggage Allowance is just 1 bag. Etihad website has an option to pay for extra baggage but would not let me since the first leg is operated by American Airlines. I was wondering if I can check-in an extra bag with American Airlines at the airport after paying the surcharge. I hope I don't get denied checking in the extra bag at the airport. Is anyone having issued with Etihad customer services currently. It has taken 51 days before receiving a response and their reply is basic and does not address the issue. I booked extra leg room seats and paid extra. Received said seat on the OB leg but not the return due to a last minute change of aircraft. I understand the challenge but I should at least be refunded for the additional cost I paid for the extra leg room seat for not getting what I paid for. We have two seats in First / Apartment booked later this year for LHR to AUH on the A380, booked via Etihad points last year. I've twice tried to upgrade those two seats to the Residence but each time (speaking to Etihad over livechat) the response has been no, it's not possible to do this. I had read that this was now possible, and you could upgrade either cash or miles based First bookings. It was confirmed that the Residence is available on our flight, just not available to us. Etihad has a great facility for CPB and immigration here in Abu Dhabi. However, it seems that those of us who are not US Citizens or don't have Visas issued (as we can use ESTA) are not able to check-in. There is a mandatory Visa section for online check-in on the Etihad website, and it doesn't seem to be skippable, it needs visa info even if we have ESTA. There was a schedule change on my booking (MNL-GVA in Business) recently, and I opted to select a new flight which was offered. All appeared to be good, with no errors,etc. However, now when I look at "Manage my Booking" everything looks fine, including seat assignments, but when I request a copy of the itinerary it still shows the original flights. Greetings! Am planning a trip from LHR to SIN in First, via AUH, next Spring. Would like to know if the 787s on the outward leg between LHR - AUH and the return AUH - LHR have The Apartment. I know the A380 has this seat, but would like to know if this is a definite for the 787. (I am aware that these are Mixed Class flights, because AUH to SIN and vice versa are in Business Class.)
