The Young family have been farming in the rural settlement of Kaiwera since 1876. Robert, who took over the farm in the late 1990s after returning home from Lincoln, says that the way he farms now is completely different to the way his ancestors did 147 years ago.
Over the years, Robert has acquired more land, growing the farm to 982 ha, comprising of 5,500 ewes, 265 cattle, and finishing 2,000 - 6,000 store lambs. He added that he also plans to graze 2,000 dairy cows over the next winter.

The FarmIQ map has had a facelift, meaning it is looking sharp and clean, and is now super simple to navigate. All draw and edit features of the map are now under one menu on the left-hand panel - this includes paddocks, block groups, features and hazards. Recording a death while out and about on farm has never been easier thanks to our new and improved mobile app! The latest feature enables users to quickly and simply add a death on farm, making it more efficient for all FarmIQ farmers to keep all their records up to date – no matter whether they are in the shed or out on the back blocks.
All FarmIQ packs can record deaths, however, getting there is slightly different. Everyday pack farmers can record a death via their favourites list, whereas Performance and Enterprise pack farmers can record it via their map.  ..read more
