I often get asked by folks what someone does with apple butter? Many people remember eating apple butter at their grandparents and buy out of nostalgia. For those that don't have this memory, my girls and I have compiled a list of the five top things you can do with your delicious jar of Lapacek's Orchard Apple Butter. 1. Toast! Apple butter is perfect on toast! Just spread a light (or thick) layer of it and enjoy! You can add a layer of butter as well to really enjoy your morning. 2. Hello everyone! It's hard to believe we're already into September with two weeks of apple season gone by. We've had a lot of questions about how the orchard faired over the year. I want to assure you that our apple crop is looking excellent. We are blessed to have a high pressure irrigation well on our property and we were able to irrigate our apple trees every day this summer to keep them growing. Keep an eye on the homepage "pop-up" on our website www.lapaceksorchard.com to see what varieties are currently available and if any of them are starting to run low. I also do a live facebook updat ..read more

We do have some pear trees planted in our apple orchard. By some I mean about 10 - five Bartlet pears and five potomac pears. You see, pears ripen from the inside out so if we were to wait for them to be soft and yellow they would be gross on the inside. The trick to knowing if a pear is ready to pick is to lift it up and if the stem breaks off cleanly from the branch it's ready. We recommend leaving some of your pears on your counter to ripe and keep the rest in y ..read more

It's back! I know I said earlier that there wouldn't be a Kraut day because we don't have enough cabbage. Well - we're going to host a last minute Kraut Day anyway - first come first serve. The big rain we got on Monday, while awesome, is causing the cabbage we have to split. It's still good but it needs to be made into Kraut sooner than later. So with that being said, DIY Sauerkraut this Saturday, August 19 from 10am to noon at Lapacek's Orchard! My brother-in-law, Matt, will be here (I think with Charlie!) and Pip to help you all make your very own bucket of sauerkraut. We'll be cutting cab ..read more
