Crank by Ellen Hopkins: A review
Bookish Buzz

Let me tell you, fellow bookworms, Crank is one of the most powerful books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. And trust me, as an Avid reader, I have read a lot of books. This heartbreaking tale of drug addiction takes us on a journey through the eyes of a protagonist who becomes a captive of what she calls "the monster." And let me tell you, this monster is no joke. It will grab you by the throat and drag you down a dark, drug-infested rabbit hole that is all too real. What makes this book even more poignant is that it is based on the true story of Ellen's own daughter's addiction ..read more

Looking For Alaska by John Green: Book review
Bookish Buzz

Ah, "Looking for Alaska" by John Green. It's a book that has received a lot of mixed reviews, and I'm here to add one more to the mix. But before I do, let me just say, there are spoilers ahead. So if you're worried about that, go ahead and hit pause, read the book, and come back. I'll wait. Okay, now that's out of the way, let's talk about Alaska. Poor Alaska. The troubled, flawed character that so many readers seem to sympathize with. But here's the thing: just because someone has a troubled past, it doesn't excuse their behavior. Alaska is moody, withdrawn, angry, and unpredictable ..read more

A Review Six of Crows written by Leigh Bardugo

Six of Crows, ah. I was expected to be taken to another realm after hearing so much about this book. But, alas, my friends, the hoopla was just as disappointing as the book itself. Let's get started with the characters, shall we?. They're all teenagers, which makes little sense given the context of the story. They don't act like teenagers, and their ages aren't consistent with the plot. I couldn't imagine them as teenagers, so I pretended they were all in their 20s. Everything made more sense, and I couldn't think of any other reason to put them in their teens except to appeal to the ..read more

The Price of Perfection: A Critical Review of Pretties by Scott Westerfeld

Hey, My fellow Book Worm and Book Lover! Guess what? I just read Pretties by Scott Westerfield, the second book in the Uglies series, and boy, oh boy, was it a wild ride! Tally, or should I say Talwy, is now a "pretty," and let me tell you, she's the epitome of a perfect influencer, but still, she's unhappy. I mean, who wouldn't be, right? Imagine losing all your memories and aspirations just to become "pretty"? Yikes! Anyway, she meets Zane, and things become interesting. Personally, I wasn't a fan of Tally in the first book, but in Pretties, she transformed into a much better character. Alon ..read more

The Maze Runner by James Dasher

You ever have one of those moments where you're running for your life from some monster, and you turn around just to check how close it is, only to smack straight into a brick wall? Yeah, me neither. But let's just say, if that ever happened to you, you'd be totally screwed. Not only would you be knocked out cold, but that creature would be feasting on your juicy flesh in no time. Bravo, genius. The first half of the book is a mad dash of action and suspense, like Usain Bolt running from a pack of hungry cheetahs. We meet our hero, Thomas, who is dropped into a strange world filled wi ..read more

Starting out as a creative writer can be both exciting and daunting. There is so much to learn and so many paths to take. As a writer, I understand the difficulty of taking those first steps. You can, however, start developing your writing muscles and finding your voice with a few simple tools and strategies. One of the first choices you must make is whether to write by hand or on a computer. While typing is more efficient, writing longhand allows your ideas to flow freely without being constrained by typing speed. So, grab a pen and a piece of paper, whether it's a fancy journal or a simple ..read more

The Real Monster is Frankenstein: Review and Opinions
Bookish Buzz
by Unknown

(Spoiler Alert) When you hear the word Frankenstein, you probably picture that big, yellow monster or the villain from Mary Shelley's book. But in my opinion, the real bad guy is Victor, not the monster. That's why the other name of the book, "The Modern Prometheus," is so fitting. If you're not familiar with the story of Prometheus, he was a god who gave humans stolen fire and was then punished by being tortured. In the book, Victor plays the role of Prometheus by bringing a dead body to life and then being punished by losing the ones he loves. But the story is even more complicated than ..read more

Are you ready for a heartwarming tale of family, healing, and love? Well, look elsewhere because "Three Little Words" is not that book. Sid's life on a peaceful British Columbia island revolves around his best friend Chloe, his foster siblings, and his sketchbooks. But when he shares his private drawings with Fariza, a mute and traumatized foster child, he discovers a new way to heal and connect with others. However, Sid's fragile world shatte ..read more
