I'm a longtime videographer & photographer. Currently semi-retired, but occasionally shoot for local non-profit organizations. My previous cameras included the Panasonic GH1, GH2, GH3, Olympus E-M10 Mark III, Blackmagic Pocket 4K, and now a Panasonic Lumix S52X (S5iiX or S5 IIX) ... and before that various Sony broadcast video cameras. It's incredible the capability now available in today's cameras, the S52X being a prime example. I edit video using Davinci Resolve Studio. I recently... Read more ..read more

Hi all. I'm looking forward to learning and sharing more about DaVince Resolve. I'm out of Southern California and have been using DaVinci Resolve quite a while. I started out way back editing with Premiere Pro, but I wanted to edit HDR video and Premier Pro did not have that capability at the time. So I switched to Final Cut Pro which was early on with HDR, and then moved to DaVinci Resolve as it got better and better with HDR. For hardware I currently use a MacBook Pro 16 inch M1... I rendered some video in autodesk max to motion jpeg AVI in 4k and tried to convert them to mp4 in Davinci to reduce file sizes but DaVinci interprets the motionjpeg as interlave video and ruins the resulting file. WHY??? and how do I/you fix that? there seem to be no option to change that and the software shows the source video as progressive but during conversion it's treated as interlace or otherwise alternating lines damage ..read more

Lack of Export File Size Estimate

Anyone know why DR doesn't show us the estimated export file size in the Delivery Page? It shows the percentage used on your HD before and after a hypothetical export, so that means it knows the size of the file, so why doesn't it just display that? Why does DR force us to do math ..read more

Parameter Ranges in Decimals... Why?
DaVinci Resolve Forum
by oldschool47

Here's one for you guys. Almost all the parameters for adjusting things in DR are on scales of like 0.0 - 0.1 or some odd decimal range like that. This makes it difficult to make precise adjustments, and just seems odd and non-user friendly. Why not go for simplicity and use a scale of 0-100 for everything? It just seems like that would be much more intuitive than always ending up with something like .0247 when adjusting parameters. Am I missing something? Is there a way to change the...
