Hi all! I'd like to first preface by stating that we love our vet and they're awesome, so I have full faith in their recommendation, I am also just curious what other folks may think. This Monday morning we woke up to our 10 year old, male, fixed, cat with a very swollen jaw and he was drooling, with some blood mixed in. We immediately scheduled a visit to the vet that same day. They put him on pain meds and antibiotics and we saw an almost immediate improvement in swelling later that day. Come Wednesday, we noticed that he wasn't very interested in eating or drinking, so we dropped the antib ..read more

https://www.tiktok.com/@yseratok?_t=8m2zOf0xBE8&_r=1 I don’t know anything about this man or diseases in cats but I’ve been worried that this cat is being forced to suffer when it shouldn’t have to be I do not know how bad a cat has to be before it is put down, I don’t know anything about that. But this man is clearly profiting off this cat which could potentially give him incentive to keep the cat alive despite what is best for her It probably isn’t good for me to be commenting on someones else’s decisions but i’ve legitimately been getting upset at the thought that this cat is suffering ..read more

Dog with Rotting Teeth

So, my cousin has a dog. His name is Leo, and he is about 7 or 8 years old. He has horrendous breath. Why? Because his teeth are rotting. He has had multiple teeth fall out and can no longer eat regular kibble or hard things. The worst part, he is in pain. If they touch around his mouth, he yelps in pain. It really bothers me because I have my own dog, and I would never leave him in a state of pain, I don't care how poor or broke I am I WILL make a way. Guess what? They are not poor by any means, they are middle or upper middle class, go on vacations, have a nice apartment etc. Each time I br ..read more

Should I vaccinate my cats for FeLv?

I have two four year old cats who are indoor/outdoor (I really don't like that they go outside but my family lets them out and despite countless conversations they're still let outside). One goes outside and ventures off alone much more than the other. The other usually just stays in the back yard or the neighbor's yard if she goes outside. They have never been vaccinated for FeLv and tested negative. I am concerned about injection site sarcomas, so I'm trying to evaluate risks. The block I live on regularly has stray cats, though I'm not sure if my cats ever interact with them. However, if m ..read more

Random bald spot on cats arm

Hello, We just noticed today this random bald spot on our cats arm. We plan on taking her to the vet but wanted some opinions as well. Thank you. Our cat is a 12-13 pound neutered female, about four years old, and had a respiratory infection when we received her but no known medical issues. She gets pretty upset whenever we leave so maybe some separation anxiety. We live in Washington DC but rarely let her leave the apartment. She’s eating, drinking, and has had no issues using the restroom. She doesn’t seem to be in any pain and is generally acting like her usual self. Not sure if the pictur ..read more

Threw up a couple hours after heartgard

Hello, Last night I fed my dog around 7:30ish and gave his heartgard around 8:30ish. Somewhere around 10:30 he threw up his dinner, I wasn’t able to tell if the heartgard also came out or not so I’m curious what I should do? I know it only takes an hour or two for it to enter their system but my concern is that the dinner came out whole and as such the pill wasn’t digested (I assume he ate too fast and that’s why he threw up because none of it was chewed ?‍♂️) I did already call the vet and they said he should be fine but I just want some more clarity for peace of mind! Thanks! submitted by ..read more

Species: cat Sex: female spayed Weight: 10.1 pounds Age: 6 years 11 months Breed: domestic short hair Video: dropbox Hello, My cat was admitted to the hospital on Saturday morning 4/27 after ingesting rat bait containing 0.01% Bromethalin. The estimated amount ingested is 1.0-1.1mg of active ingredient (10-11 grams bait x 0.01%). Vomiting was not induced, but she was administered 2 doses of activated charcoal to help absorb the toxin. After a blood test at 2:30am Sunday, it was discovered one of her kidney values were elevated—Creatinine 4.5mg/dL. BUN was normal at the time at 30mg/dL. Prior ..read more
