Unlocking the Power of Inner Leadership: My Experience of a Significant Emotional Event In 2018, my world was shaken to its core. I experienced a Significant Emotional Event that disrupted every aspect of my life – my emotional, mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing. It was a journey that challenged me to the very core of my being. Embracing Vulnerability Have you ever had someone say to you: “It never occurred to me that you also face life’s ups and downs”? This feedback hit home for me after I shared a personal challenge I was dealing with. “I always saw you as this boundless source of inspiration and energy, and I never imagined you had your share of challenges. It’s as if I placed you on such a high pedestal of positivity that it never occurred to me that you also face life’s ups and downs.” This feedback highlights a common misconception – assuming that someone who provides inspiration and positivity doesn’t ex ..read more

How to stay focused in 2023? Staying focused at the start of the year usually means New Year Resolutions. But, there’s so many areas to focus on  …more exercise, less alcohol, more healthy eating, more time with family etc. And for me, these traditional resolutions don’t work …they feel stressful. I much prefer a focus. Just one or two words that are gentle reminders for me to stay on course. It’s what I use with my coaching clients …we call them gentle nudges. They’re very specific to each client but generally, they’re intended to keep them focused and on track with their goals. I see th ..read more

Traditionally, leadership and kindness aren’t two words you’d see used together. But kindness in leadership is becoming spoken about more often. It’s also essential if you want to improve the engagement of your team and earn their trust and respect. What is kindness? Just wondering if the words you use mean the same thing to other people as they mean to you. They often don’t. And when what you think you have said is taken to mean something completely different, things can get complicated. For example, one of my leadership coaching clients shared how they asked a team member to do a ‘paper’ on X. The team member wrote the paper and delivered it in plenty of time for ..read more
