The penultimate round of the 2024 UCI BMX World Cup has just wrapped up, and like many other BMX lovers around the world, I was glued to my TV to watch the action unfold. Here are 11 observations from today’s racing:

It is fantastic to see a World Cup back in the US. The last one held was in 2019 in Rock Hill, and before that was back in 2016. The half-mile stretch of a BMX wonderland was swarmed by number-plates and taken over by the speed chasers on the USA BMX National Series. With amateurs testing their skills through one of the most technical tracks on the tour, the pros hit their wide-open speeds to get big scores and a few race days under their belt before a big stretch of races. While the weekend didn't bring new leaders to the pro point overall, it did bring some new names into the leaderboard.

Just one month after the Collegiate racers across the country converged in Springfield, MO, USA BMX announces the recipients of the 2024 Bob Warnicke Scholarship winners. With scholarships ranging from $3,000 to $1,000, the Bob Warnicke Memorial Scholarship Fund is raised through local track Bob Warnicke Scholarship Races as well as from proceeds from the National BMX Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

Chilao SS (Static Spring patent pending) uses a spring to preload the outer bearing against the pedal’s endcap, making the side load static regardless of wear and installation torque tolerances. The result is a minimized friction point that is normally a result of bearing preload in conventionally designed pedals.
