In the Men’s Championship Singles we have reached the Semi Finals and these two play offs will be well worth the view! Unfortunately, due to the torrential rain we have experienced in the past few weeks, the grass green has been closed to repair & recover. Therefor, these matches will take place on the carpet which changes things a little for the players. The bonus for the spectators is that we will have the comfort of the DOSA to view these match ups. CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES The Queen of McKenzie Park Ladies Singles has been crowned in a Championship that was all we asked for. Colleen Willis defeated Toni Anderson in a tough match that showcased the Ladies skill levels in many degrees. The match was full of everything the game has to offer from two such established players. Unfortunately Toni got off to a slow start, trailing 12-1 in the early stages, poor Toni was forced to play catch up. But the score line didn’t hinder her progress. Toni made some length changes that shook the game up and put some credit in her bank with some much needed s ..read more

Toni Anderson & Colleen Willis have confirmed the date for the Ladies Championship Singles Grand Final. Sunday April the 14th at 9:00AM. This game just adds to the weekend, already jam packed with goodness, this game is the cherry on top. Both competitors displaying sheer dominance throughout the tournament, disposing of their opponents with priority – subconsciously eye balling each other for the top spot on the podium. What really sets these two ladies a part from many others, is when they are not representing our Club in interclub events such as Q Sevens, or vying for a podium finish in ..read more

The Q Sevens Finals – Elimination Round is just over 24 hours away. The rain is pelting down right now with the forecast predicting it will be here for the entire weekend. All four teams are playing at Pine Rivers in which they are lucky enough to be undercover with the only weather likely to hinder performance will be the winds. It means nothing really to our players. Rain, hail or shine, they will make the journey and will be in the prime of their life having waited patiently for two weeks for this specific moment. If anything, the weather will be advantageous to our crew as they have been ..read more

Singles – Sectional Explanation
McKenzie Park Bowls Club
by David Spies

One of the most common questions I am asked by people surrounding Championship Singles, is “Why is the first round Sectional?” or something along those lines. When you inspect the reasons closer, it makes complete sense. Most clubs adopt this format around Australia. And although slightly confusing as it is the only format that adds sectional to its draw, we will show you why! In ..read more
