This week we explore a bit of how to add arched text to a design and making use of multiple BX fonts. To create a “distressed patch” to glue on to a hat for a friend, we use the knockdown of Enthusiast and change the object to an outline stitch like a bean or a backstitch.
Click here to download the zipped file of the mountain. It is in the BE file format so you can open it into Embrilliance platform to customize. If you have StitchArtist, all the objects are revealed so that you can check out the digitizing.
The replay of the broadcast is available on my SewBubbles page. &nb ..read more

As I was thinking about the upcoming fall holidays for 2021, I recall the last in person classes that I taught in Nashville, Chicago, and Atlanta last year. First, I can not believe that an entire year has past! Second, I was thinking about the hands on digitizing class that we did in each location and thought “hmmm, this would be a fun challenge to bring to Afterhours and my Vimeo Channel”.
So if you watched the Facebook Afterhours last night, you saw that we digitized the sketch version of my funky spider graphic. In case you missed the live broadcast, you can catch the repl ..read more

As part of my Facebook Afterhours broadcast, I offered up this design as a free download. It is a zipped file in the BE format. You can open this into the Embrilliance platform to customize as you would like. If you have StitchArtist, the objects are exposed so that you can see the stitch settings that I used when creating this design.
Because it is a StitchArtist BE file, you can resize it and the sketch areas will repopulate with the same density – except for the pink flower petals – the reasoning is explained in the broadcast if you are interested in why.

Education is very important to me and I really do enjoy teaching people to use their software. This blog post will give you some tips and tricks to accessing the online education available to you. I have also compiled some of this information into a PDF that you can download.

As many of you know, I create many of the videos for the Embrilliance YouTube channel. This is ONE of the reasons why it is very important to me that people vote for the Embrilliance YouTube channel in this year’s Reggie Award (voting ends December 12, 2019). To everyone t ..read more

This month, I was asked to be a “guest contributor” for the Monday Morning Chat in the Beginner Machine Embroidery group on Facebook. One topic I wrote about was on thread weight as it relates to machine embroidery. If you are on Facebook and looking for a supportive, informative, drama-free, embroidery group, I highly recommend that you join this group. As in most private Facebook groups, you MUST answer a few questions in order to admitted to the group. They aren’t trick questions :-). They are there to keep the group spam free and on topic.
This week’s Monday Chat topic was on thread ..read more

I had posted this information as a response to questions in the StitchArtist Digitizing Fans group the other day and thought that it would make a nice blog post. This is about a 7″x7″ patch and its being stitched on a Janome 550e. I’ve stitched patches on all my machines including my 28 year old Brother PE150, Brother PR600, Janome 550e and Viking Topaz 50. They all work
There is some info in the PDF next to the Merrowly download that has patch information. There are many videos such as this one that show the Merrowly Patches software in action.
As I have mentioned many times – p ..read more

This embroidery design came about after some social media discussions about someone looking for a similar design. Because of this online discussion, I wanted to see what I could create in Embrilliance StitchArtist. I had created many wreath frame designs over the years, so adding a bow with flowing ribbon was the new fun part of the project.
There are many ways to create the wreath portion of this embroidery design. Depending on your level of StitchArtist, you could digitize each leaf or use copy and paste to create the frame. If you have StitchArtist L3, you. could create a custom motif to u ..read more

Today marks my TWO year anniversary from doing the After-hours broadcast on my SewBubbles Facebook page. WOW – that’s a whole lot of chatting about machine embroidery – and I’m not done yet
Let me say right now – I am not stopping the After-hours show! It has moved to Tuesday nights due to my schedule and the fact that social media traffic seems to be a little bit less jammed so the stream is more stable. I really do enjoy the “live interaction” that we have on Facebook – and for anyone watching the replays, you may find that someone else already asked the question that you ..read more
