Which electric bikes are best? Well shit, it’s a hot topic in todays world. A fast evolving piece of kit and a new chapter in the word of “going for a thrash”. Don’t get me wrong, the days of dirt bikes will still linger on but these new electric models have really created their own benchmark and opened our eyes to their capabilities. We have to mention that’ve also ran your classic pedal E-bikes and we can quickly say that we much prefer the Surron for so many reasons like comfort, speed and durability. The only advantage of of an E-bike (apart from the obvious weight) is that you have p ..read more

Rant: “Having a firearm is a privilege, not a right.”

We’ve all heard the rhetoric “having a firearm is a privilege not a right” and personally I don’t entirely disagree with that statement. By now we are also no doubt well versed in the unintended consequences of the law changes this hapless government seems to keep ramming down our throats. Due to recent legislative changes what is now quite true is the fact that we as firearms license holders are held to a much higher standard than the general public, in fact holders now have less rights and privileges than the rest of the population. For example, the general public has a right to doctor/patie ..read more

Overview on every Item Tim packed for his Fiordland hunt. Tim Shulpen, he’s the kind of guy that you want to hear his opinions on almost any hunting gear. He makes us laugh because of how he immerses deep into researching anything and everything to do with hunting. But even more than that, he goes bloody hard in the mountains so he actually develops an In-Field understanding of the product he’s spent weeks researching.  So we wanted to take advantage of this hunting nerd, and get a run down on the gear he carried on his Fiordland hunt in 2022. If you haven’t pictured it already, Tim is ..read more

The Stone Glacier Sky 6900 Backpack: The Ultimate Hunting Backpack I’m confident in promoting these packs to any hunter because I’m speaking from a couple of years of experience hunting with these packs. But even more than that, many of our friends are also running these packs and have all sung praises similar to mine.  We have been using the Sky Talus 5900-6900 and the Terminus 8700. But as you’ll see on the Stone Glacier website, there’s a wide range of other packs and gear – all of which match the same performance and quality I’ve seen in my packs.  But for the sake of this blog ..read more

Best Sleeping Bag for Hunting in New Zealand?
Hunters Journal Blog

Which sleeping bags are best? I personally have a clear answer to this—and an option that I think will be very hard for anyone to argue against. And that’s the One Planet Winterlite -12. I would always suggest owning two sleeping bags though – one for winter and one for summer. The Winterlite bag is breathable enough that I can still get away with using it through summer. But in my opinion, I would suggesting investing in a good winter bag and then a cheaper bag for summer when the conditions aren’t so demanding. For summer I run the Stoney Creek Black Stag 500 simply because I got it as a k ..read more
