Simple Embroidered Matzo Cover

These matzah covers are surprisingly simple, so relaxing to make, and an excellent gateway into the wider world of embroidery. I originally made and published this project during a rather grim, pandemic-era lead-up to Passover 2020, and unfortunately, the inscription feels all too fitting again in 2024. But you can write whatever you want—no allusions to horrific world events required. And you can get the job done with nothing more than a sharp pencil, some inexpensive embroidery floss, a basic embroidery hoop, and a large-eye needle. Oh, and a 15-inch-by-15-inch linen napkin serves as the ba ..read more

And the Rabbinical Assembly of the Conservative Movement officially declared kitniyot kosher for Passover back in 2015, and I, for one, have never looked back. (Actually, my family has just always eaten this stuff…apologies to the Assembly.) The fluffy filling here is reprinted from a Smitten Kitchen pie, which is adapted from a Jennifer Perillo recipe. The base is where things get Passover-y; it’s my matzo-ified version of a classic graham cracker crust. And the re ..read more

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rebekah Lowin (@rebekahlowin) This definitely one of those I-can’t-believe-that-actually-worked ideas. I’m pretty sure I didn’t stop holding my breath from the minute I started whipping up the icing until the minute the ink was dry on the last card. WHEW. But it did work! And now I’m so excited to share the tutorial with you. Before rushing out to the store for mini alphabet stamps and gel food coloring, please note that this is a multi-day project. It’s actually pretty straightforward and easy to pull off, but you will need to make the royal ..read more

Girl Scout Cookie-Inspired Samoa Matzo

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rebekah Lowin (@rebekahlowin) I *love* these Samoa matzo “cookies.” Cannot wait for you to get your hands on them. They’re perfectly chewy-ish, they’re decorated with the classic Samoa chocolate drizzle, and they’ll make all your Seder guests happy (and nostalgic). P.S. This sticky coconut-caramel situation was heavily influenced by a cookie drop-off at the office the other week. I actually tried to make two other Girl Scout cookie flavors and the results were deeply appalling. We’re not even gonna talk about it. As always, drop me a line on I ..read more

27 Thoughtful Passover Gifts to Delight Your Seder Host

As I set out to compile this list of the best Passover gifts, I couldn’t help but think about one thing. One cheesy but very true thing. Which is that…Passover itself is the real gift. I mean, the food. The anticipation for said food. The hanger resulting from said anticipation of said food. The dipping-your-pinky-in-grape-juice as you hangrily anticipate. The DIY haggadot my mom made years ago that very plainly read “community of beavers” where they should read “community of believers.” Is there anything better? Truly, there is not. Which is why Passover has always been my absolute favorite ..read more

via Lindsey Eats Can we please just talk about that headline for a sec? *pats self on back!* Ahead, I’ve compiled over a dozen matzo recipes (more aptly, they’re ideas of things to do with matzo) in the hopes that they’ll help you use up that extra box on your kitchen counter. Here, you’ll find toffee mat ..read more

Memorable Passover Quotes to Share at Your Seder Table

Okay, confession: I first published this list of Passover quotes all the way back in January. Crazy, no? But as I’ve mentioned, oh, 84 times before, Passover is, without a doubt, my favorite holiday. Even thinking about it gives me the happiest feeling. When I tell you that I’ve been looking forward to posting about Pesach here for months, I’m not exaggerating. I was thinking about Passover as I pieced together last year’s Hanukkah tablescape in October. And my Rosh Hashanah table in July. (Clearly, my seasonal confusion does not discriminate.) The point is, I’ve been feeling that familiar tu ..read more

A Passover Tablescape with Crate and Barrel

Disclaimer: This post is part of a larger paid sponsorship with Crate and Barrel. Opinions and creative direction are my own. I’ve been so excited to share this one with you all—my second holiday table with Crate and Barrel!! (The first being the “olive oil tasting” Hanukkah party from December of last year.) I curated, stared at, styled, rearranged, photographed, tripped over, and—most ALARMINGLY—unboxed this whole situation all the way back in December. (People don’t talk enough about how many cardboard boxes photo shoots yield. So let me just tell you right now. It’s a lot of cardboard box ..read more
