I'm trying to do an upgrade from VMware UAG 2306 to 2312. After I imported the JSON file, it shows "UAG settings imported partially due to one or more errors observe while trying to persists settings. Please check the logs." I can see my Horizon Edge services being imported as well as HA configuration. But have noticed that my virtual IP for the HA no longer accessible through FQDN, through IP address is working fine, checked DNS and host file and there's no changes. Any advise on this and from the logs which file should I refer to for import setting related error and the HA access log? Thank ..read more

VMware isn't seeing datastores

I had to rebuild a server for a client after some of their RAID volumes broke due to too many disk failures (old server that's being used as a backup until they move to the cloud).  I rebuilt the volumes on the RAID controller and Windows can see them with no issue.  However, when I boot into ESXi 7, ESXi doesn't see them.  This is the same installation that previously worked (and could see datastores), so I know I have the correct driver. What am I missing? My first thought was that ESXi wouldn't let me see the datastores if they were formatted with NTFS, so I went into the RAI ..read more

What pushes you to the tipping point to consider new tech vendors?

Making the choice to consider new tech vendors is not one that is made lightly; rather, it’s often influenced by many factors that collectively serve as the tipping point. Deciding when it’s time to make a shift can be influenced by evolving technology, when there are big industry shifts, or when the needs of your org change. It’s not always simple to make big tech vendor shifts, so the rational to switch has to hold promise. Today we’re interested in hearing from those in the community who recall helping their org make a significant vendor change and what lead you to that tipping point. Fee ..read more

Broadcom / VMWare out of their minds!!!!!

We have used VMWare for years and have loved the product and would continue to .... Until now. Our current infrastructure is due for replacement/upgrade but wanted to reutilize the current setup in another location as a DR setup. We have been renewing our VMWare support regularly and wanted to get a quote for the upcoming renewal.... I was not ready for this. We have 3 EXI hosts along with vSan and our renewal last year was $7500... not a problem. Now that Broadcom has taken over the same renewal has been quoted at $49,000 .... what are they smoking? They have forced us and a bet thousands of ..read more

Hello, I want to migrate my exchange server environment which is currently on a Windows 2012 R2 Hyper V. Considering the following, we have 2 VMs with a Mailbox server role installed and configured DAG. although we have a hybrid setup now, so I can remove the DAG and keep only one Mailbox server. how do achieve this?  We have 2 VMs with CAS roles, though there is no load balancer so the NAT is only pointing to one of the CAS servers, I would like to remove the one without NAT.  in either case, if I can get rid of the unwanted server or not, I want to migrate the complete environment ..read more

Hi all, I know this has probably been asked a million times but I can't quite find the answer I'm looking for... We have a single server running Hyper V Core 2019, this is running a Server Essentials 2016 VM. We're in the process of upgrading, new drives, new RAIDs, fresh install of Hyper V Core, but wanted to know the following: Should the Hyper V Core server really been joined to the domain in this setup? If we had multi servers/DCs I can totally understand this. As one could authenticate with secondary DCs etc. As Server Essentials is the only DC, the way I'm thinking (pleasecorrect me if I ..read more

Morning, I was wondering if there is a way to set up a virtual test environment for our firewalls? We have 4 WG firewalls, there is a lot of reprogramming needed due to historical rules / policies moving from older revisions.  There is also rules in use I believe can be made more efficient with some aliasing as well. As we have a very limited time frame for downtime and would like to up date a site at a time I wondered if there is an environment I could you to re-create our setup, upload our current config's to so we can make changes / see impacts etc.? Or is that even a possibility? I d ..read more

Dear Team, I hope this email finds you well. As we embark on the installation of a new server within our company's infrastructure, I wanted to address some questions and clarify certain aspects of the process. Our aim is to ensure a smooth deployment while maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our network environment. Server Installation Approach: Our plan involves installing a new Windows Server 2022 from scratch. Given that we already have an existing AD Server 2008 and no migration is required, the new server will be set up as a standalone entity initially. Subsequently, the Hyper-V f ..read more

I have a virtual firewall and I'm trying to connect 14 vlans to it. I have 2 physical 10G Nics setup on the host configured as set to the vSwitch in hyper-v. Other servers on this host are working fine on different vlans but each of there NICS have the VLAN ID configured to pass as an access vlan. On the vNics for the firewall I have used Set-VMNetworkAdapterVlan -VMName "Firewall" -VMNetworkAdapterName "X1" -NativeVlanId 0 -AllowedVlanIdList 1-4000 -trunk I've also tried using 1 as the native and 2-4000 on the allowed with no luck. The traffic is coming back to the parent port untagged and n ..read more
