The U.S. Supreme Court has denied Elon Musk’s latest bid to throw out the post oversight part of a settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), after a 2018 tweet in which he said he had “funding secured to take Tesla private at 420 a share.” As a part of the settlement following a later lawsuit lodged against Musk for the tweet, he agreed to have a Tesla lawyer pre-approve his posts on Twitter, along with giving up his role as chairman and he and Tesla each paying $20 million fines. After Musk appealed the oversight agreement in the 2nd U.S. Circuit of Appeals last year, the ..read more

He’s back. That’s the message Morgan Stanley’s Adam Jonas portrayed in a Monday morning note to investors as Tesla’s Full Self-Driving suite gained tentative approval in China after the CEO met with high-ranking officials. As investors continued to question what Elon Musk’s commitment to Tesla was, the message is clear that he is pushing the electric automaker forward once again with this massive development to the FSD suite. “Whether Tesla’s CEO is sleeping on a floor or on a plane…the message is clear: he’s back,” Jonas writes in a note to investors. Jonas notes that there were undoubtedly i ..read more

Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently landed in China for a visit that surprised the electric vehicle community. But while Musk’s typical visits to China usually involve Shanghai, where Teslas’s Gigafactory Shanghai is located, the CEO’s visit today was to the nation’s capital, Beijing. Videos taken of Musk also showed that he met with high-ranking officials right after he landed.  On Sunday local time, Chinese electric vehicle watchers observed that Musk’s private jet was en route to Beijing. Considering that Tesla’s manufacturing facilities were located in Shanghai, some EV watche ..read more

Tesla’s (TSLA:NASDAQ) Proxy Statement 2024 revealed that the company is asking shareholders to approve two big proposals at the upcoming annual meeting of stockholders in June: Tesla’s reincorporation to Texas and the ratification of Musk’s 2018 compensation plan, which was rescinded by a Delaware judge in late January. Considering the sentiments of the Tesla community online today, it would appear that the electric vehicle maker will be facing a rather unique situation in June — a growing group of shareholders who have grown to dislike Elon Mu ..read more

Tesla has dropped the prices of its electric vehicles (EVs) and its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software over the past few weeks, reigniting larger discussions about the automaker’s overall pricing strategy. In response to one person criticizing the frequency of Tesla’s price changes, Elon Musk has pointed to the dealership model, noting that most automakers change prices on their vehicles more regularly than consumers may realize. On Friday, Tesla reduced the price of the Model S, X, and Y by $2,000, after the company cut the price of monthly FSD subscriptions in half earlier this month. On Satur ..read more

Tesla shareholders might be asked to vote on Elon Musk’s nearly $56 billion pay package again.  On Monday, Tesla filed paperwork so shareholders could vote to approve Elon Musk’s 2018 pay package again. The filing came with a letter written by Chairperson Robyn Denholm, who wrote that the Tesla Board disagreed with the Delaware Court’s ruling on Musk’s 2018 pay package.  “Elon has not been paid for any of his work for Tesla for the past six years… That strikes us, and the many stockholders from whom we already have heard, as fundamentally unfair. “We do not think that what the Delawa ..read more

Tesla’s job cuts have hit workers in China. Recently, Tesla emailed workers to inform them that they were being laid off. According to Reuters, a few employees on Tesla’s sales team in China were also notified that they were being made redundant. One source speculated that more than 10% of Tesla workers in China were losing their jobs. Elon Musk subtly hints Tesla is entering “wartime mode” again

It appears that Tesla is about to find itself in a “wartime” setting or sorts once more. This was, at least, hinted at by CEO Elon Musk on social media.  Tesla became the electric vehicle behemoth that it is today by making risky decisions. However, following the Model 3 ramp that almost killed the company, it seemed that Tesla had calmed down somewhat. While the Cybertruck started customer deliveries and the Model Y became the world’s best-selling car last year, it seemed like Tesla was no longer constantly fighting a battle to survive.  About every 5 years, we need to reorganize a ..read more

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the company has to “reorganize and streamline the company for the next phase of growth” every five years after at least 10 percent of its global workforce was trimmed, and two key executives left the automaker on Monday. Tesla has been preparing to enter a new phase of growth within its automotive business as competition increases and it realizes a critical need to update its product portfolio.
