The world’s first Māori-owned wine label, TOHU wines, has taken out honours at two prestigious wine awards.
TOHU Rewa Méthode Traditionnelle Blanc de Blancs was awarded the NZ Wine Centre Legacy Award, sponsored by Marlborough Research Centre, at the Marlborough Wine Show.
Meanwhile TOHU Whenua Awa Riesling 2019 has taken out Trophy honours in Class 2 – Riesling at the 2023 Global Fine Wine Challenge, announced on 4 December.

The Tohu Whenua Awa Riesling 2019 has been awarded a Trophy medal at the Global Fine Wine Challenge 2023.
The Global Fine Wine Challenge is one of the most exclusive wine showsin the world and is accessible by invitation only. Only the top 120 wines from countries, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa & the USA were selected to compete.

TOHU Rewa Méthode Traditionnelle Blanc de Blancs has been awarded the NZ Wine Centre Legacy Award, sponsored by Marlborough Research Centre, at the Marlborough Wine Show.
The Legacy Award honours wines with pedigree and is awarded to the wine producer with the highest scores from three vintages within a ten-year period.
This year the Legacy Award was judged by British wine writer Oz Clarke.

Recipe by Martin Bosley
Serves 4 Ingredients
150g green beans
4 tbsp unsalted butter
12 gourmet potatoes, cooked and cut into quarters
2 tomatoes
4 lamb fillets
3 tbsp anchovy butter (recipe follows)
2 tsp red wine vinegar
2 tsp chopped chives
Method
Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil and plunge in the green beans. Cook until tender – a maximum of 3 minutes.
Remove the beans from the water, drain onto a wet tea towel, then roll it up to keep the beans warm.

1kg Halfshell Mussels (defrost in the fridge or run under cold water)
1 Red Onion
3 Stems Spring Onions
3 Peeled Garlic Cloves
1 thumb Ginger
1 thumb Fresh Turmeric (can substitute for 1 tsp dried)
1 Stem Lemongrass
1 Green Chilli
3 Kefir Lime Leaves

1 Can (400 mls) Coconut Milk
50mls Olive Oil
50g Butter
