Review – The K’s, Marble Factory, December 1st
The Bristol Gig Guide

Listen up, folks, ’cause The K’s are more than just a band – they’re a force of nature. In the blink of a year, Jamie Boyle on vocals/rhythm guitar, Ryan Breslin shredding on lead guitar, Dexter Baker holding it down on bass, and Nathan Peers banging the drums have taken the UK by storm. Sold-out tours, Royal Albert Hall, and rubbing shoulders with Liam Gallagher – these lads from sunny Earlestown are on fire. Their gigs? It’s not just a show; it’s a riot, a chaotic symphony of sound that’ll leave you breathless. But don’t let the madness fool you; behind it all is a sophistication that’s uniq ..read more

Review – Movements, SWX Bristol, 28th November
The Bristol Gig Guide
by Wil Denneman
2d ago
After having seen Movements as an opener countless times, their show at SWX on Tuesday night was their chance to prove their ability as a headliner. The set is opened by two songs from their latest album “Ruckus!” but promptly followed with hits from the band’s beloved debut album “Feel Something.” Fans on the barricade are passionately singing along to the lyrics. The crowd is moving in a way that almost resembles the ocean and has developed a life of its own. Crowdsurfers are flying across the room, and multiple moshpits are opened. Looking at this sea of people from above is almost distract ..read more

Review – Sleaford Mods w/ Big Special & Emily Breeze, o2 Academy, Bristol, November 30th
The Bristol Gig Guide
by Craig Simmonds

Nottingham duo, Sleaford Mods, are about to play their biggest headline show to date at London’s 10,000 capacity Alexandra Palace. Before they do, they are on a run of shows across the UK and Europe including a stop at a sold out Bristol O2 Academy.  They seem to stop off here every two years or so and, tonight, frontman Jason Williamson tells the crowd that “Bristol is always good”. Since they were last in this venue – almost exactly 2 years ago – they have scored their biggest album to date with 2023’s ‘UK Grim’ charting at Number 3 and found themselves in the centre of a social me ..read more

Review – As December Falls, SWX, Bristol, November 26th
The Bristol Gig Guide
by Adie White

November slipped through our fingers, and As December Falls, we’re all reaching for a lifeline, a warm embrace to fend off the chill. Last Sunday, I found myself tangled up in the feverish pulse of SWX, a joint where the congregation was as raucous as a revival meeting. We thought it was just Bethany Hunter on vocals, Ande Hunter shredding on lead guitar, and Timmy Francis laying down the bass grooves. But hell, this wasn’t just a trio; it was a sprawling family, embracing us with more warmth than any blood kin. In the chaotic seas of modern rock, As December Falls emerges like a rebel ship sa ..read more

Review – Hot Milk, Gig Of The Year Contender, Bristol Trinity Centre, November 21st
The Bristol Gig Guide
by Adie White
1w ago
In the sultry heat of August, Hot Milk beckoned the cosmic abyss with a resonant “Call To The Void,” and the abyss, in its cosmic caprice, responded with an emphatic nod, swiftly catapulting them into the realms of sold-out glory across the UK, Europe, Japan, and Australia. The global appetite for the visceral Hot Milk live experience, a bacchanalian voyage through the echelons of emo-infused power rock, proved insatiable. This troupe, led by the luminaries Han Mee, Jim Shaw, Tom Paton, and Harry Deller, encapsulates not just a band but an evolving sonic saga. The recent album, a veritable com ..read more

Review – Witch Fever, Bristol Trinity Centre, November 21st
The Bristol Gig Guide
by Adie White

In the consecrated chaos of Bristol’s Trinity Centre, a space once devoted to spiritual sanctity, now pulsates with the sacrilegious symphony of Witch Fever. Amy, the charismatic high priestess of this doom punk congregation, orchestrates a spellbinding spectacle alongside her acolytes Alisha, Alex, and Annabelle. Their dark silhouettes, etched against the backdrop of blood-red lighting, carve an indelible mark on the sold-out crowd. The caustic contrast of the venue, once a church, now a haven for the unorthodox melodies, is not merely a coincidence but a beautiful irony. Witch Fever’s sonic ..read more

Review – Bob Vylan- SWX, Bristol, November 21st
The Bristol Gig Guide
by Anna Hatfield

It’s not often you can go to a punk gig and expect to begin with 5 minutes of yoga and meditation. The crowd were invited to either join or observe while Bob Vylan unapologetically stretched his way across the stage before opening the set with We Live Here. Unapologetic is probably the best way to describe this whole gig which was full of politically motivated lyricism and speeches along with a fair amount of crowd participation and chatter. There was also a competition set out by Bob himself to “touch home base”, encouraging crowd surfers to try and dodge security and make it onto the stage t ..read more

Review – Gentleman’s Dub Club, Bristol O2 Academy, 18th November.
The Bristol Gig Guide
by Adie White

Gentleman’s Dub Club may originate from Leeds, but they consistently turn Bristol into a welcome home party. The Dub brothers, charged with energy, took the stage to a raucous Bristol welcome during their recent visit in March. Since then, we’ve been treated to their 7th album, “On A Mission,” setting the stage for a party vibe at the packed O2 Academy. The floor is a sea of smiles and waving arms from the start. Sirens wail, red lights flash, and Jonathan Scratchley breaks into “Emergency.” On special nights like this, the balcony at the O2 literally bounces for special bands giving extraordi ..read more
