In all my years of taking people on dolphin trips and/or wildlife trips to parts of the Bahamas, Africa and Asia, I always wondered why I wasn’t leading trips to animals here in the US. Covid made me really stop and think about the carbon footprint of all of it. And like everyone else, I was pricing RV’s and planning trips with my dogs that didn’t happen. So when Dr. Jill (my biz partner in Jill and Joan Healing) and I decided to meet somewhere in the middle to work on the new class in our acupressure series, Organs, Meridians and Emotions (OME), we picked Lake Tahoe. Neither of us had been th ..read more

Gorillas of Uganda

I am back and settling in after the experience of a lifetime. The two trips, Kenya and Uganda were magical. Now, being home and looking at these pictures, I can’t believe how close I was to the gorillas in the Bwindi impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda. Nor can I believe how human these gorillas feel. Being in their presence is like being with a zen master.   I know they have their squabbles, I know they have their drama. Yet, the taste of each leaf is savored. The moment the gorillas stare at you feels like it is registered somewhere. Their presence is in contrast to how busy ..read more

Here is a recent interview I did with Double D Trailers about how animal communication can help anyone who works with horses! According to Joan Ranquet, she has the absolute coolest job on the entire planet. That’s because Joan is a professional animal communicator. Call it telepathy… Call it simply the exchange of pictures, words, and feelings… Or, just call it a gift. Joan uses her unique skillset to help riders of all skills – even at the Olympic level – overcome communication issues affecting their rides. You’ll love this interview where Joan shares some of her fascinating journey as a hor ..read more

5 Ways Energy Medicine Supports Animal Health Care

The great thing about animals is that if you ask them if they believe in complimentary energetic health care, they will not say no. Yet, their sensitive systems dramatically respond to the harsh protocols of western medicine — whether it is vaccines, antibiotics, long term use of painkillers, chemical wormers, and more. I have been fortunate enough in my over 30–year career to support western medicine veterinarians as well as holistic vets, chiropractors, animal body workers and/or animal energy healers with animal communication, animal medical intuition, energy healing and more. My very special meditation on wildlife adventures becomes part of the secret sauce on my trips. I have a great story from one of my South Africa trips. We were up near Kruger Park and the guide we had was a rather earnest guy, a rather straight shooter if you will. He overheard us talking about meditating and I thought what the hell, I’m just going to ask him to get us somewhere great and we can meditate out there rather than here at the lodge. I wasn’t sure what I expected to say but I certainly didn’t expect him to respond the way he did. He said, “I know just the spot.” We went out to his s ..read more

What’s at stake for wildlife?

Coming home from the most wondrous trip of all, I have to say I am grateful to have witnessed and connected as deeply as I have with the animals of Kenya and Uganda. I am also aware of who may not be with us in the future as we are facing unprecedented times. In our lives now, we may not experience it because we have so many comforts and workarounds if that comfort level doesn’t work. But a drought doesn’t have a workaround in Amboseli. I was surprised at how much all the species moved me, the flamingoes had me in tears. To think that the glaciers of Mount Kilimanjaro will melt and Ambosel ..read more

Sitting here listening to bird sounds at Ithumba Camp is heaven. Ithumba Camp is here in Tsavo East, Kenya. It is owned by the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and it is where the juvenile orphans live. We have had so much fun so far. Here at Ithumba camp, the orphans go through a process to eventually be released from the wild. But let’s start at the beginning. The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is a place where orphaned elephants come. It is a nurture- to- release system and the process takes about 9 years. When an orphan is found, it goes to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Nairobi ..read more
