Weaning Trauma in Horses

Have you ever wondered what the level of Weaning Trauma in horses would be? When you think about the issues that very many horses have with things like separation anxiety, barn sourness, being herd bound etc, it makes me wonder how much of that stems from the way that they were weaned. Since probably a majority of us don’t breed our own horses or have control over the weaning process, that makes things tricky! I’m sure that lots of horses aren’t weaned very well. They might be taken away from their mother too early, or maybe the process was just too fast for them. Since time is money, for a lo ..read more

Trapped Emotions in Horses

If you’ve ever heard of the Emotion Code, you might have wondered whether you can also find Trapped Emotions in horses and other animals. The premise is that, emotionally-charged events from your past may still be haunting you in the form of “trapped emotions”— emotional energies that could literally stay in your body for years. …if these trapped emotions continue to fester, they may create discomfort, imbalance, and potential malfunction in your body. They could also extract a heavy emotional toll, impacting how you think, the choices that you make, and the level of success and abundance yo ..read more

How to increase your horse’s trust

As an Animal Communicator I regularly get owners asking how they can increase their horse’s trust in them. I always ask horses in a session whether – and how much – they trust their owners. Some people already know it’s an area they need to work on, and others realise they need to work on it if their horse gave a low score. I’ve found in my sessions that just asking a yes/no question isn’t enough. For instance, a horse that says ‘no’ when I ask if it’s in pain might actually have a very high pain threshold! So, I now ‘measure’ the level of pain, or, in this instance, trust. I did a pendulum s ..read more

Horse anxiety and you

Does your horse get anxious?  How does it affect you, when he does? It’s pretty normal for horse anxiety to trigger us in some way – you might find yourself getting worried, frustrated, or even angry. You might also find that YOU get anxious. But, have you ever wondered who got anxious first? Did their anxiousness trigger yours – or, was it the other way around?! This morning I brought my mare in to her shelter, as it was rainy with high wind.  I thought she’d appreciate being out of it for a while, to rest in a safe space. However, she was quite anxious, jumping every time there was ..read more

The best way to help your horse

Several times lately, in different circumstances, I’ve been reminded of the best way to help your horse (or pet).  It’s by no means easy – but there’s one thing we all need to be aware of and consciously addressing when it comes to our animals. Picture the scene. Whenever there is a stressful situation – maybe your cat has gone walkabout, or your horse is injured – we tend to find our anxiety and stress levels climbing.  Our minds get full of questions, about what’s going on, what the options are, how to fix it etc.  We worry about how they’re feeling, whether we’re doing e ..read more

How to get clear Animal Communication Info

Are you practicing your own skills, and struggling to figure out how to get clear Animal Communication info in your sessions? Perhaps you’ve had a session with someone else and the info seemed vague , not really telling you what you need to know? Here’s a new perspective and a way of getting a much deeper level of information. First, some things about me: I’m endlessly curious, and want to know what the information that I collect in my sessions actually means. I like things to be tangible and measurable.  I love statistics, and save all sorts of interesting info that comes up regularly i ..read more

Learning Animal Communication

When it comes to learning Animal Communication, it can be super helpful to know up front what your Learning Style is.  Each of us has a specific way that we learn best – by listening (auditory) by seeing (visual) by touching / experiencing (kinesthetic). I’ve known for many years what my learning style is, but it was brought back to me recently after a conversation with my husband.  He’s about to take part in a conference, and was complaining about having to sit through the inevitable boring PowerPoint slides with bullet points. I pointed out that not everyone will find them boring ..read more

Where Animal Communication info comes from

Do you find yourself wondering where Animal Communication info comes from? Is it purely from the animal ‘talking’ to the communicator? I realised this could be useful to clarify or expand on after I had a new client recently reply to my session findings, saying something like, ‘You said that he likes….’, when in actual fact it wasn’t something ‘he’ had said. Confused?! Here’s where animal communication info comes from for me. First of all, remember that not all Animal Communicators (including me) hear streams of conversation in their session. Even if we did, the animal might well be rattling ..read more

What do horses want to change about their owners?

I recently asked on my Facebook page, “What do you think most horses would want to change about their owners?” Quite a range of suggestions were shared, which came down to a list of 19 ‘improvements’ owners could make – or, changes we think that horses would like us to make. (Bear in mind when looking at the list that the sort of people that follow my page are most likely already pretty aware and sensitive!) Since I have a bit of an inside track as an Animal Communicator, I put the 19 suggestions into chart form, then used my pendulum to tune in to the Horse Collective and rank them, from most ..read more

Can your horse carry your weight?
Trisha Wren, Equine Energetics Blog

Have your ever wondered how well your horse can carry your weight? All sorts of studies have been done on this. According to this one from Oct 2022, a horse can carry 20% of its own weight – so, a 500 kilo horse could carry a 100kg person. This is surely only a starting point though, as we also have to consider the breed and age of the horse, its fitness and experience, as well as things like the rider themselves, how long you’re riding for, tack fit, balanced feet, and the horse not being in pain. How Much Weight Can A Horse Carry? Before I became an Animal Communicator, I taught horse & ..read more
