I bet you thought you knew what your cat sees. Well, there's some cool research out that might surprise you.
For example, did you know that cats can't see in the dark? That cats are near-sighted? How about why their eyes reflect light when a light shines on them?
As an animal communicator, working with cats for over 30 years, I've perceived how cats see, hear, sense, feel, and think. They send me images of what they see and how things appear to them. And... they don't just use their eyes for "seeing." Like all animals and many plants, cats use their five senses to perceive their physical wo ..read more

And it's NOT this one! Having recently returned from flying and traveling in Ireland (driving on the left side of the road...EEEK!) I got to thinking about safe dog and cat car seats, carriers, and restraints for planes and cars.
Are you planning on driving or flying with your furry in the future? Does your dog or cat ride in the car with you frequently or even sometimes? It goes without saying that keeping them safe is a "must." Too many animals are injured or thrown from cars and trucks during accidents. Don't let yours be one!

Dog trainers, vets and well-meaning friends often get this wrong. They might tell you if you don't "catch your dog in the act, you can't discipline them." Dogs have told me otherwise.
Has your puppy or rescue dog had an "oops" (or more...) in the house, and because you didn't see them poop or pee, you just cleaned it up and committed to doing a better job training them to go outside, but the behavior continues?
Have you ever found a pillow, favorite shoe or other possession chewed or destroyed, and because you weren't there to see it happen, just threw it away angry and frustrated, mutteri ..read more

It's planting time. Do you know that many popular outdoor plants are toxic to your dogs and cats? I'm afraid some may be common favorites like azaleas, rhodedendrons, and English Ivy. Many are mildly toxic, others are worse. The bottom line is that dogs and cats should never be chewing on most flowering plants and shrubs.
Here's a good list of poisonous indoor and outdoor plants for dogs and cats from Garden Design. And here's their SAFE plants for dogs and cats.
What to Safely Chew Outside?
Always give your puppies and dogs a raw bone or chew stick like the Earth Animal "No Hide" c ..read more

Uh oh. Did you know that 61% of cats and as many as ONE in THREE canine veterianry patients are disgnosed as Obese? Obesity among our companions is as epidemic as it is for humans! And just as is true for us, overwight animals develop more health problems, including decreased mobility, diabetes, hypothyroidism, osteoarthritis, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, difficulty breathing, as well as difficulty grooming, increased risk of hyperthermia, increased risk of cancer, shorter lifespans.

I got a panicked call, "Kate, my beautiful dog has been in the emergency room all night and she's not improving. The vets don't know what's wrong, but her liver is crashing!"
It seemed to be a mystery until I tuned in and asked Buffy, the dog. She sent me a telepathic picture of her and her person running on wet, short grass. There were puddles all around and the water was splashing up on her chest and belly.
I asked her person, "Sally, were you and Buffy running in a park or by a golf course after it rained?
Sally gasped. "Yes! Two nights ago we ran on the golf course after the rain stor ..read more

"Help! Charlie wakes us up a couple times a night. I don't know what he wants and it's making us miserable!"
Do you have a cat or dog who starts meowing, whining, jumping or pawing at your bed late at night or in the wee hours of the morning?
Many of my animal communication clients have shared this problem with me and asked me to please talk with their beloved to find out why or tell me, "Please make him stop!"
Honestly, "Please make him stop," makes me cringe because 1) That's not something I can do. 2) It doesn't address the reason he's doing this. A much better and more respectful way to b ..read more
