The WitchDoktors: Photo by Ian Bourn for Scene Sussex WitchDoktors: On Location!, Location!!, Location!!! The WitchDoktors are your number one source of supercharged hypnosonic rock’n’roll. A new single and video “Before The War”. We go behind the scenes with words and video and thoughts on this new release. Hugh Cornwell: Photo by Ian Bourn for Scene Sussex Hugh Cornwell guest: Wedding Present frontman David Gedge, Concorde 2, 24 January 2024   HUGH Cornwell achieved fame as the frontman of punk pioneers The Stranglers, who were in my view, one of the most innovative bands of the early punk scene and that genre. It is possibly less common knowledge that since leaving The Stranglers in 1990 he has continued to record numerous solo albums. I had not seen Hugh for a couple of years, the last live performance I saw was when he supported The Undertones in Brighton. I made a pledge to myself the ..read more

Billy Bragg:  Brighton Dome 14/11/2023. Billy Braggs’s influence continues to resonate today, some 40 years on. Some serious songs, a memorable, but also a fun and enjoyable experience. To start the proceedings we were treated to a 40 minute video capturing the highlights and journey of Billy Bragg. Billy made mention of the video relating to his dodgy haircuts, hats and shirts. He is of the firm belief that some of his shirts maybe on sale in charity shops in Brighton! Dirty DC: Photo by Ian Bourn for Scene Sussex Dirty DC, Concorde 2, Black Rabbit Productions – 20/10/2023 Concorde 2 was packed solid, I think this gig had actually sold out. In the crowd we saw crews of metal head veterans, we could see a group of younger gig goers proudly wearing the flashing red horns. This scan across the crowd reassured me that AC/DC music breaks any age boundaries. It is still cool to like their simple, yet extremely catchy riffs, which make up for a powerage of a show. Dirty DC are top of their game, they look great and sound, well, like AC/DC! Dirty DC: Photo by Ian ..read more
