Hello. I picked up an '05 4.4i with a hole (under backside left pants pocket) where I believe it is common to have the heating element short out or arc and burn through. Now, someone is selling a cheap set local to me, but the drivers seat bottom is a bit haggard looking compared to the brand new looking passenger seat bottom. Anyway, I swapped seat bottoms (a passenger bottom with a driver's bottom) in an e36, was hoping someone had done it on e53 and could advise if possible or not? My concern is drivers controls/seatbelt on left of drivers side versus right of passenger...but did not know i ..read more

Hey all - I have a 2005 X5 4.8is with dual axle EHC2 air suspension that has the infamous "SELF LEVEL INACT" dash warning. And the problem is the pump will not turn on. I have already used both DIS and INPA to attempt to manually turn the pump on. While it shows the function was activated, the pump is not running. And I have checked both relays related to the pump; the purple one that is on the fuse/relay block behind the rear right removable panel, and also the black one that is hidden underneath the battery tray cover that is wrapped up in protective foam. I have also checked the pump by rem ..read more

Hi - for those who’ve replaced it - did you also need to replace all the diff seals when you moved the diff and pulled out the driveshafts? I’ve read a few guides and some suggest this is necessary? Not sure how easy it will be to do the diff seals if it’s not being removed out of the car? Will it leak….?
Grateful for advice on this - looks like just need the alternator bracket seal and orings for the oil feeds ..read more

2003 4.4i DSC 5.7
Lights came on sporadically at first, but then all the time.
Codes always included pressure sensor errors, but all over the place and never the same code after each reset:
51 Pressure sensor, line
72 Pressure sensor, zero deviation
73 Pressure sensor, line
81 Pressure sensor line interruption
114 Pressure sensor (offset)
115 pressure sensor scatter
Also got: 105 [69) Brake light switch plausibility [new switch made no difference]
And: 80 Brakes were overheated [HA!]
Never had a wheel speed sensor code.
I sent the DSC module to Cheap ABS. Their tip of removing the headl ..read more

Hi, I have a 06 BMW X5 3.0i. I started noticing this clicking noise while shifting between reverse and drive. after some research im paranoid it might be the driveshaft splines and im on borrowed time. What could this sound be? The car drives smoothly, shifts good and no noticeable vibrations.

Not sure any of this info is "new" to many of us, but for a first-time e53 owner...could have lots of value! It was just published today online and even describes some of the fault codes and early recalls. Take some time to refresh your fondness of the e53 platform by taking a look!

Hello,
I am writing here as this seems to be one of the more knowledgeable forums regarding the N62 engine. This is not in my E53, but is an N62 none the less... specifically a 4.4 originally installed in an E60 manual and now at home in a Z3 roadster.
I have had the car running over 2 years now and the car still runs very well. No misfires, passes compression tests although leakdown tests do indicate something is off.
The only issue is inconsistent smoking out of the tailpipe and spark plugs on 7, and to a lesser extent 8, were always oily. I did the valve stem seals when I had the engine o ..read more

Hello,
Long time ago I changed my lock actuator for the Driver Side Door, and I was never able to properly put back the door together, it is still loose as none of the plastic tabs (clips) are secure.Door panel Clips and tried to replace the missing ones
but it is not clear how I am supposed to make it work, do I Slide it From Top to bottom ? or do I push it in and force them?
and which one type of I clips do I need to buy
the Diagram for the Real OEM is too messy, cant tell what clips I should buy and where is each one ?

Hi gang!
The DRL (daytime running lights) on my 2004 3.0i aren't working and the lamps are ok and work on 'flash to pass'.
Anybody know what controls the lower output level for DRL?
I think that for the US market they're off by default but can be coded 'ON'. My truck is a Canadian model and the DRL used to work OK.
TIA ..read more
