One of the hardest things to do is put up runs with two outs. It doesn’t happen all that often when a team is able to muster hits with one out left in the inning.
On Friday afternoon at the Crusher softball field, this is what host Vintage did as they beat Petaluma, 9-1, in the final game of the Vine Valley Athletic League season.

Baseball will be a brutal game. It’s also fair to point out that every win must be earned. If you want something, you’ve got to take it. That’s just how sports work.
On Tuesday afternoon at Crusher Diamond, it appeared that visiting Casa Grande of Petaluma was playing with their backs up against the wall as they were able to push the Vine Valley Athletic League baseball race to the final day with a 5-0 win over Vintage.

There are days when you have to do everything in your power to come away with a win. In those games, that team likely could’ve played better as well.
On Monday afternoon, this is what the Napa High baseball team did when they were able to muster just enough offense to beat Elite Charter School of Vallejo, 10-5, in an end-of-season non-league game played at Mount Field.
The Grizzlies (9-14) opened up the game by scoring five and making it appear as if it was going to be a quick and easy game. Ma ..read more

Good teams find a way to put games away in the end because the talent level always seems to rise.
On Thursday afternoon at Crusher Diamond, this is what Vintage did when they beat Napa High, 10-0, in a mercy-rule-shortened six-inning Big Game.
The game ended in the bottom of the sixth when the Crushers pushed 7 runs across with 10 batters coming to the plate. Kai Gulliksen singled, Lucas Henry walked, and Austin Buffler reached on a bunt single to load the bases. A walk by Freschi brought in Gu ..read more

When games are tight, it helps to have a team that can execute in the big moments. After all, this is where games are won.
On Wednesday night at Kiwanis Park in downtown Napa, this is what Vintage did as they beat Napa, 4-0, in a pitchers duel to get the Big Game sweep.

Just when you think a baseball series is predictable, it’s not. Baseball is and will always be the hardest game to have any idea of what’s going to happen.
On Thursday afternoon at Mount Field, this was precisely what happened when Napa beat Justin-Siena, 5-3, for their first Vine Valley Athletic League win of the season.
