  We all agree that when judging any breed, the officiating judge must evaluate each exhibit according to the standard for the breed and country in which he is judging.  The Chow Chow breed standard is one of the lengthiest and most detailed of standards but still leaves ample opportunity for the judge’s interpretation. Where did you grow up? Do you come from a doggy family and, if not, how did the interest in breeding and showing purebred dog begin? I was born and raised in the Lubbock, Texas area, and grew up in a dog show family. My parents bred and showed Pekingese in the 1950s, and then Chows from the 1960s on. My wife, Linda, was born and lived in the Portland, Oregon area, and got involved in breeding and showing Chows in the early 1980s.
