Hey guys,    I picked up a NB bottle darter Jr and am having issues with it riding on the surface after I get into the retrieve. It will dig for a few cranks but then will pop up to the surface. I am fishing a tidle river and thought the current will help it dig but even if I cheat the cast down river it keeps running to the surface. A friend fishes the larger size and has no issues with the plug staying down. Not sure if I'm an idiot or if I got a dud. Appreciate any insite ..read more

Headed down to Hatteras for a week. Have never fished there, but do have some surf experience. I have a plan in my head but wanted to get others thoughts as well.     I have 2 9' Penn Fierce 6000.  3/4-3ozs. Planning on using them to throw some lures for bluefish and spanish macks.    Also have 2 10' Daiwa BG 5000.  2-5ozs. Was gonna use them for bait poles with a 2-3oz sputnik and some hi-lo rigs.    I have an older Okuma TBF-65 baitfeeder that I think I want to get a pole for. I got a Ron arra xsra 1321 and I love it for 1.5oz kastmasters. I want to get some new plugs like a ss little neck popper but not sure if the 2 3/8 oz would cast as far a 1.5oz or vise versa. I was looking at 1.5 needlefish too but then I saw they have 1 3/4oz and I was stumped. These are expensive plugs and I want to make sure I have the best weight for my rod.
