The 20 HP motors are a lot more expensive than the 9.8 or 9.9 motors. Heavier also.
My FS14 went good with the 15 yamaha 2 stroke. Stupid Grandson sold that motor and put 30 yamaha 2 stroke on it. Need for speed!!!!!!!!!!!

The Suzuki 9.9, 15, and 20 are the same motor. Most other makes are the same way. I converted my 9.9 to 20 and it was an easy computer swap. It ended up costing about $100 more to convert than just buying a 20. But, I have a 9.9 sticker on the outside and a 9.9 serial number on the motor. There is only one varnish I use in outdoor applications and that is Interlux Perfection Plus a two-part varnish that lasts 4 times longer than the standard varnish. Just something to think about Craig.

I use the same and it holds up well. If you apply it over 1-2 coats of epoxy it will look very thick without having to apply a million coats. Theoretically sealing the wood so it doesn't expand and contract as much also helps it last longer since it is harder but therfore more brittle than varnish.
