so, I'm refinishing the terribly distressed brightwork around the windshield and have removed the four wood handholds. Last owners varnished the handholds. I'm thinking ii might make more sense to leave unvarnished or simply use Cetol, to make them less slippery.......other opines ..read more

Restoration of the KIMBERLY ANN continues. The windows are cut in and paint is going on the house. It’s now time to look after some of the other projects for this boat. This brings me to searching the internet for plans on the construction and plumbing of handmade lobster live wells for my 29ft lobster boat. If any one has detailed drawings, plans, or photos from similar projects they have done I would be greatly appreciated ..read more

I have my 1982 29’ Dyer trunk cabin gasser for sale. One potential buyer asked about a trailer, I found a ten year post somewhere with a phone number and called it. Turns out guy does Dyers of all models over, and also has trailer contacts, plus, actually worked at Dyer years ago.
Sent me a pic of a dyer he did years ago, my opinion beautiful. Seriously thinking if I don’t sell it I’m taking the sawzall to her, drop a 6bt, yanmar or nanni in her, and find someone to finish it all off, I...

Can anyone point me in the right direction in finding the rubber gaskets to set windows in. I am looking for the ones that have a "u" shaped channel to hold the glass and another, larger channel to mount over the house wall. The house is 1/2" nidacore with 1708 on either side so the gasket would need to be 5/8" or 11/16" for the house channel and 1/4" for the window channel. All I have found online are the ones for vehicles which are made of thin metal ..read more

Hi, anyone know a good spot for 7/8" rail, split fittings for an existing rail and deck flanges. All 316 SS. I have looked around but would love to get it all from the same company. See Sea Dog, then one thing missing, Amazon, same. Appreciate it. Just trying to add two 60 degree rails to stiffen up the front that has no support ..read more

Picked up the hull today. Planning on a basic (yet nicely finished) center console. She will have a 300hp Suzuki mounted on a custom fiberglass bracket, Transom center live well, two aluminum fuel tanks outboard of the stringers (shooting for 100 gal), step down console for storage and porta-potty, forward in-deck dry storage, and a center line rear fish locker.
I’ll be building the boat over the winter hoping to splash next summer if time permits. (Running a business, three kids under 7...

Looking for your expertise.
Cut this in with Coosa or Balsa?
The balsa is 1” thick
And-
I still need to cut more balsa out - however-
See were I peeled back the glass off about a foot past the rot( this is dry)
Should I cut that out too or leave the dry and cut the new piece in and glass over both?
Or
Cut the dry back to where I cut the skin ?
This is FUN ..read more

Looking for any and all advice on prepping, applying, mixing, and finishing non-skid on a deck, roof, and rails.
My search in the forum came up short. so if there's another thread please link it.
It's apparent to me that there is more than one way of going about it.
1: Buy paint with the grit already mixed in like Interdeck.
2: Then there's additives like Awlgrip griptex. which i assume can be added to any color of awlgrip topcoat?
a: with multiple grits to choose from. (fine coarse...
