To give credit due to the right person (I did not write this). This comes from a newsletter I receive and thought that many of you might enjoy this and some interesting information and a few chuckles.  If only I could write as entertaining as the publisher of Coffee and Covid.   Onto the article: This morning I gave in to the eclipse hype — everyone else is talking about it. I put it all under a skeptical microscope, but at least one conspiracy theory remained not easily explained. Let’s begin with Forbes’ spooky story yesterday, headlined “Here’s Why The Total Solar ..read more

If you happen to live in the Northern Hemisphere you are aware that we are in the depths of winter currently. I just finished dinner, slipped back in my office to write this blog and realized man it's cold back here. Grabbed an alpaca sweater, already had on my sheepskin slippers, of course I slip those on as soon as I walk in the door. Now that is more like it. No need to turn up the heat. As the temperature drops and winter sets in, it's time to bring out your cozy sheepskin slippers. These luxurious slippers are not only incredibly comfortable but also provide excellent insulation to keep y ..read more

6 Facts About the Rose Bowl Parade

I confess, I lived in LA by the Hollywood Hills for about 6 years back around the turn of the century, 2000. Wow, turn of the century sounds like a long time ago. I grew up in Central Illinois in a mid size factory town. My mother was still living there and came to LA during the holidays. Of course, she wanted to see the Rose Parade live. We have some great seats in the bleachers lining the parade route and then spent the remainder of the day viewing the floats up close and personal in the Rose Bowl parking area.  She loved it! It was beautiful Southern Calif with blue skies and te ..read more

UFO's INFILITRATING: *NOT A DRILL*

On November 14th, 2004, one of the most credible sightings of a UAP (unidentified aerial phenomenon) occurred, and it's since been featured and discussed on all mainstream media outlets, including 60 Minutes and the History Channel. When I say it was credible, I mean that the Navy itself is the source and that the Pentagon has confirmed the authenticity of the event, which Raytheon Corporation's infrared sensor has captured on film! There is no debate here; in the skies, there are advanced technologies that are either not of human origin or are of our own doing and are so superior to what is p ..read more

Is Faux Fur Better For The Environment Than Sheepskin or Alpaca?

I get shoppers of all ages saying to me:        "I will never wear an animal. I am so into the environment and animals" So lets look at that statement.  I look at the person and see what they are wearing. Faux fur hat, faux leather shoes and clothing that either cotton or some combination of synthetic fabric. Synthetic fabrics, whether it is used as a faux leather or fur or into a top or pants it is made of synthetic polymeric fibers such as acrylic, modacrylic and/or polyester.  All of these materials are essentially forms of plastic. These fibers are made f ..read more

No matter where you are in life being curious will make your life so much more interesting and successful.I've been a bit busy with Covid myself for the past few weeks but have had this story waiting.  Hope you enjoy it. Guest post by Ted Lamade, Managing Director at The Carnegie Institution for Science There is a great scene in the first season of Ted Lasso in which the show’s antagonist, Rupert Mannion, challenges Lasso to a game of darts. After seeing him make a few poor throws, Mannion is confident that it is easy money. The two play and Mannion appears to be on the verge of winn ..read more

You want me to replace my comfortable, old slippers? Can't I just clean them? That's a conservation that has taken place in many a room. Above is a picture of my slippers. They are perfect. Nice and broken in. My wife knows to not get me a new pair.  Yea, I know they do not look that bad; but, that's because they are chocolate. It hides the months and months of use. Ok, you really need to clean them or she said she will get me a new pair. So, how does one clean sheepskin slippers. Washing sheepskin slippers is not something one needs to do often if at all but I get asked this question a ..read more

The Little White Envelope

THE LITTLE WHITE ENVELOPE: "It's just a small, white envelope stuck among the branches of our Christmas tree. No name, no identification, no inscription. It has peeked through the branches of our tree for the past ten years. It all began because my husband Mike hated Christmas. Oh, not the true meaning of Christmas, but the commercial aspects of it – overspending and the frantic running around at the last minute to get a tie for Uncle Harry and the dusting powder for Grandma – the gifts given in desperation because you couldn't think of anything else. Knowing he felt this way, I decided ..read more

We All Have Dreams

Winning has everything to do with what you believe. The second you believe you can, it gets put into motion and winning begins. That belief, that decision, is powerful. It's the spark that ignites. This is your time at the beginning of a new year. You are free. You are free to dream. And this is a beautiful time for reflection. What would make you stupendously happy in 2023? What would be absolutely "impossible" but totally wonderful if it happened?  What about your dreams in every area of your life, not just work? Dream it! And let your imagination and your dreams fly. Forget "reality" a ..read more
