Dear Colleagues and Students
Close to 30 000 people pass through the UCT campuses on a daily basis. Over the last ten years we have grown tremendously, from 16 976 students in 2000 to 24 000 (estimated) in 2010. This level of growth places enormous pressure on the university.

Station hotel plans likely to get city council go-ahead

City council officials have recommended that a plan for a 120-room hotel at Cape Town station be approved when councillors consider it next week.
The development, which includes shops and offices, will go up on vacant land owned by the Passenger Rail Authority of SA bounded by Strand and Adderley streets and Old Marine Drive.
