Hello everyone, so with The Witcher 3 on sale right now I was going to pick it up but as with every purchase I always have a search online to make sure it runs ok. I’ve been reading conflicting things about The Witcher and how it runs, some folk saying they have no issues, some folk saying it freezes and crashes every time they press the pause button. One thing that varies with these reviews are the time frame. What state is the game in right now on steam deck? I’ve read that some people force an older version to make it play smoothly, if this is the correct fix is it easy enough to do? Thank ..read more

Witcher 3 performance tip

Hey there fellow Deckers, after an ungodly amount of downloads and tests I’ve noticed that on my deck (OLED 1tb) The Witcher 3 runs significantly better and looks significantly better when using the pre-Next Gen patch namely 1.32. You can select it through Properties/Beta tab. Then when you launch through game and the CDPR launcher appears you have to select DirectX11 otherwise the game will say you have to verify the files, and thats it, it launches fine. I found that on mixed high - ultra settings you get around 35- 40 fps in heavy areas like Novigrad and it looks significantly better than ..read more

New to Proton here! If a Steam game requires some dependencies (say VC 2012 and DirectX, based on steamdb), do I need to install these dependencies when when using Proton Experimental? Most games seem to work without extra steps. If so, how can I install the DirectX when using proton experimental? submitted by /u/clutch_or_kick [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

What's a reputable portable monitor for the Steam Deck?

I recently bought a stationary bike that has a little ledge that seems like it would fit a portable monitor perfectly based on their thin profile. I understand that the Deck has a built in screen, and I make plenty of use of that screen, but I think that a stationary screen while exercising would be a more comfortable experience. Plus I could also use it with my Switch, to watch shows, and streaming from my main PC. Budget is around $200 or less. Preferrably less unless it's OLED. Ideally between 13-15 inches. I'll use headphones so built in speakers aren't super important. Additionally, I've ..read more

I’ve wanted to customize my steam deck so bad! To the point I was willing to go to that guy on Etsy (which I don’t think is bad, the man charges for time and labor I can’t be mad at that) However I checked the extreme and jsaux website and they only make shells for the lcd version but all these YouTubers and folks supposed to be bringing reviews are swapping out lcd shells for oled steams & this voids the warranty on top of that…. That is a shot in the foot, maybe I’ll attempt it on my own if they ever decide to drop ones meant for oled even though I’m terrified of breaking the screen. Wh ..read more
