I’ve had my mystery snail, Applesauce, for about 6 months. S/he lives with a female betta and a small plecostomus. The last week or so he’s been burying himself in the gravel and staying there for a few hours or even a day or two. Is this normal? I’ve never seen him do this before. submitted by /u/Several_Value_2073 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

sorry for all of the photos i didn’t know which to use. i don’t think that i stood on it and i’m confused as to how it’s shell is so damaged. i just feel so sorry for it given how tiny it is and how young it likely is, even tho it’s just a snail i’m guessing it’s pretty hopeless but is there any chance i can try save it submitted by /u/Perspii7 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Help! How do I tell if my snails are dead?

I found these snails on hike one day and they were all doing great until a couple months ago. I’ve only seen one of them out recently. I feed them a couple times a week but they aren’t eating. How do I tell if they are dead or just hibernating or something? I’d like to remove them if they are dead but I’m scared they are still alive and just not active. I also mist them daily to keep the humidity up. submitted by /u/SkyKatz01 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

My african giant snail became to big for his coconut home (inside his tank). Any suggestions for a home where he can withdraw in? I prefer something i can easily clean and where his big shell will fit in. submitted by /u/hinobodyismyname [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Moved my GAL into a bigger enclosure

Hey all! I’ve got a 6 month old GALS and moved her into a bigger enclosure because her other starter one was getting a little tight, is there any recommendations? There’s plenty of soil for her to burrow in (probably 4/5 inches) there’s a coconut shell for her to hide in as well as some greenery, her humidity is 78% and her temp is 24.5, soil is moist, very active and is climbing the glass/greenery and overall exploring but maybe there’s more or less things I can add to make it perfect for her? Thank you ?? submitted by /u/staceydnn [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Thinking about getting snails... wanting to ensure I know what I'm getting into

I'm thinking about getting a snails, but want to make sure that I understand the care needs. Please let me know if this all sounds accurate. First of all, I live in Canada, so the type of snail I get would depend on what I can find/what's legal. It seems like it's a hard pet to find find. I'm thinking if I can get a large type of snail, I'd just get one. If I can only get small snail, I'd get a few. The set up I'm thinking of would be a 10 gal tank, with a plant grow light, no heater, no humidifier. I'd use reptile coconut coir soil. Have plenty of hides, probably ceramic reptile ones and som ..read more

Heat problems

Hi there, I am having MASSIVE issues keeping my snail warm enough. I just upgraded him to his mansion here, and it’s impossible to keep warm. I have a seedling heat mat(they produce more heat than reptile heat mats) on the side connected to a habistat, but it never even reaches a high enough temperature to cut off. It stays between 19-23c and he is SO COLD. Has anyone tried a small ceramic heat emitter, like 25w connected to a habistat? I worry about how dry it will make the tank, but I don’t know if being cold is much better? In his old tank he was kept at 25c and was SO HAPPY, I just w ..read more
