I bought a "project" 2000 Polaris Sportsman 500 yesterday. Right now, it's non-running, but I'm working on that. I looked for the VIN number, but was not able to find it. I would like to confirm that it is a 2000 model. All of the plastic was removed, but in good condition, with no cracks. The engine has had the cylinder replaced with a Niche. Have had an overheating issue for a while now with my 2022 sportsman XP 1000 and I believe it’s airlocked or a headgasket issue or head issue but would greatly appreciate some insight. It overheated at Hatfield McCoy and probably 50 miles from the cabin so we troubleshot as best we could and thermostat was removed on the side of a trail, and it was topped off with coolant and we let it burp the best we could. Just wondering anout the front diff seal leaking whenever I go on a decent ride…. I normally use my wheeler to plow with and ride around in the backwoods…. But if I go on actual ride with it my front diff seal leaks…. I had it replaced before and fixed the issue but went on another ride and it’s leaking again….. would like to fix it myself this time but not sure how much of a job it is… or if it’s more than just the seal maybe a possible bad bearing? The previous owner told me these axles were brand new with zero miles. Both of the inner boots have torn by simply just pushing the quad around, according to them. Had issues running a few months ago. Stalled out and couldn’t get it started again. Let it sit for a few months. Getting it going now. Have new carb installed and new spark plug. I can’t get it started. I have a spark and I have gas coming in. I pulled the line off and while cranking there was good gas coming thoigh. If I squirt a shot of starter fluid it will fire and run for a few seconds and stall out. Not quite sure where to go from here. Thanks ..read more
