What does it mean to be a Christian? It seems simply, we’ve all known this since summer camp: Put your faith in Christ and you get eternal life. But is that what Jesus taught us? What did Jesus say about his power for our life today, not just our life in eternity? Today we’re talking about what it means to be buried with Christ, raised to new life with him, and how that empowers living for God’s kingdom today. Listen to "How Do We Know Our Identity In Christ? (Can We Talk Series)" on Spreaker. Show Notes: Find Nathan Betts Online Ways to listen: click the link in the profile search Go ..read more

Swedish Death Cleaning

The problem with organizing and decluttering tips is that usually the authors suggest doing the job rather quickly. I can’t work that way. Maybe you can relate: I pull things out, I make a mess, I get partway done and then I lose steam and quit. Rather than looking better, the area I’ve tackled often looks worse than when I started. Yet, I NEED to declutter. I’m not a hoarder, but I’ve been dreaming of simplifying my life and my home is part of that. I’m hoping that by owning fewer things, I will feel better, and my house will be easier to keep clean (I do not like housework). It’s funny how a ..read more

All Mom Does

Spring in the Pacific Northwest is a weird time. One minute the sun is shining and the next we have torrential rain. Those of us who have lived here for a while are used to the temperamental weather and we make accommodations for it. Give yourself a point for everything on this list that you’ve done. The more points you have, the more of a Washingtonian you are! Springtime in Washington: Already lost a pair of sunglasses this season. Had to watch the wind and rain knock the blossoms off your flowering trees. Left your coat at home because the day started out sunny … and then it rained. Barbec ..read more

Jonathan Haidt’s new book changes the tech conversation. From this moment onward, no one can respond to concerns about tech with “nuh uh” and be taken seriously. The research has been compiled, the conversational table has been set with delicious morsels of facts, research, relationship, and experience, and now the meal can commence. This book will change the way legislation, lawsuits, school boards and admin, parents, and young people tackle the tough questions about tech. We can no longer say we didn’t know. Children as Little Guardians
All Mom Does

As parents, we should protect our children from the dangers in this world. Along with that, our role as a guardian includes teaching our kids how to protect and guard their own hearts. We are our children’s hedge, but at some point, we won’t be around to filter out everything. We must give them the tools to guard their own hearts and minds when we aren’t around. Kids can learn to listen to the Holy Spirit at a young age. I’ll never forget the day we toured a potential home to buy. The first thing out of our five-year-old’s mouth was “This house doesn’t feel right.” He was spot-on. We quickly w ..read more

A Fresh Look at Beef Burgers

This spring has been teasing me. One day I’m paddle boarding and the next day I’m shivering at the ballpark in my parka. But on those days when the sun is shining – even if there’s a breeze that’s a little chillier than I prefer – it’s always pulling me toward the grilling season. Nothing beats outdoor cooking. The laid-back feel, the smells wafting into the neighbors’ backyards, and the easy clean-up. And the star of the grilling season? That’s easy. It’s burgers. This post is sponsored by the Washington State Beef Commission. Did you know that in addition to being a backyard cookout sta ..read more

Today I heard a news piece on the radio that grocery prices are 25% higher than they were four years ago. I knew prices had increased, but 25 percent? That’s staggering. Meanwhile, most people’s wages have not risen 25 percent. Which means most people are trying to feed their families with dollars that don’t go as far as they used to. When budgets are already tight, what’s a mom to do? Nobody wants to compromise on health and nutrition. But our families’ bellies still need to be filled. So, is there a way to accomplish both? Full bellies and good nutrition? This post is sponsored by the W ..read more
