God calls us to a relational, embodied existence. This is impossible to do in solely virtual spaces, and trying to exist only online causes anxiety, loneliness, and depression. We have the opportunity teach our children how to be present, and it starts with making space in our lives and calendars to be together. Listen to "Our Children Need Relationships" on Spreaker. Attention Dads! Three (Non-Gifts) Things Moms Crave for Mother’s Day!
All Mom Does
by Stephanie O'Farrell
21h ago
Mother’s Day is May 12th. The ONE day a year dedicated solely to us moms. But if that is the case, then why doesn’t it feel that way? I don’t know about you but I honestly don’t feel like a day meant to celebrate me should entail things like taking cranky kids out to brunch or hosting people at my house for a family get together. The more experience I have as a mom, the more comfortable I get in the skin of it. Each year I find myself getting closer and closer to defining what my truly perfect Mother’s Day looks like. Most importantly, I become better at not being afraid to admit what I most d ..read more

God on the Go: Distractions – With What We Think Is Fair and Unfair
All Mom Does

We’re diving into the fairness debate, and how it can veer us off the blessings we have in our lives. With a sprinkle of wisdom from the prodigal son saga, we find how fixating on life’s unfair moments can blind us to our own happiness and treasures.  Listen to "Distractions: With What We Think Is Fair and Unfair" on Spreaker. This Week! Monday Story: When my brothers and I would fight, I could get so distracted by what I thought was fair or unfair, instead of staying focused on doing what was right. It reminds me of the brother of the prodigal son, who got so focused on what he thou ..read more

Dear Mom, Your Children Are Safe in God’s Hands
All Mom Does

Have you ever lost your child at the mall? It has happened to more parents than you would imagine. In fact, the same thing happened to Jesus’ parents. That’s right, the parents of the Messiah lost Him. Theirs was worse actually because they lost him for a whole day! He was 12. The good news is that after his parents finally found Him, the Bible is very careful to point out to us that the boy Jesus went and was obedient to His parents from then on. So, there is hope for us all parents! Luke 2:51-52 – He went down to Nazareth with them and was continually submissive and obedient to them; and His ..read more

Unique May Day Basket Ideas!
All Mom Does
by Ann Kirsten

May Day is one of my favorite holidays. As a child, I thought that making little vases, filling them with flowers, and ding-dong dashing them on neighbors’ porches was the greatest thing ever. We would create paper cones, fill them with any flowers we could find (usually dandelions) and proudly carry them to houses where the moms would pretend to be surprised and delighted while we hid in the bushes. It was blissful. I never outgrew that magical feeling and I often sneak flowers onto my neighbors’ doors when I have an overabundance of blooms (I’m talking to you, hydrangeas!). Everyone wants to live their best life, but what if living your best life now literally means living for, and with, Jesus? Today we end our Season One of Can We Talk with a conversation about how Christ empowers us to live the best life possible, and how that doesn’t always look like what we’d plan (mainly because our plans are rarely ever truly what is best). Listen to "What is the Good Life? (Can We Talk Series)" on Spreaker. The Working Mom’s Guide to Planning Summer Childcare
All Mom Does
by Stephanie O'Farrell

Spring Break is barely behind us yet I have been ready for summer for months now. Not because of my desperate need of some sunshine and blue skies, though yes, that is more than needed during this dreary springtime we have in the greater Seattle area. But, instead, because I know if I am not ultra organized for the ten weeks of summer then the punishment will fall heavy. On me. There is one big commonality I see between the stay at home moms and the working moms when it comes to summertime. What the heck are we gonna do with the kids all summer? For stay at home moms, there may be dread over f ..read more

Finding Hope in the Garden
All Mom Does
by Maria Magee

“Adopt the pace of nature; her secret is patience.”-Ralph Waldo Emerson I love gardening. I love the patience it requires, the careful detail needed to give each plant what it needs, the problem solving that goes into growing a successful garden, and enjoying the fruit it produces. Pouring effort into a garden isn’t always easy, though, especially when you’re a mom being pulled in many different directions! Aside from the time it takes to maintain, there can be unexpected bumps along the way. The bump I encounter most often in my garden is the onslaught of aphids that are determined to haunt ..read more

Drool Tech Makes Children Brittle
All Mom Does

Drool Tech is designed to take our time, focus, and money. Not only does it manipulate our decisions, our investment includes the loss of opportunities we would have had if we’d been able to move on with real life. The loss of relationships, real world stress, and experiences of personal agency (you made a choice, saw the outcome, and learned from it), have made a brittle and anxious generation of youth and adults. Yet there is great hope. Today we’ll look at how freeplay, agency, and healthy stress can help restore and reverse some of the damage Drool Tech has brought to old and young mind ..read more
