Potential homebuyers are always cautioned to be aware of mortgage lending standards and the difficulty they might face when trying to obtain a mortgage. Credit availability is expanding, making it easier to get a mortgage now than it was a year ago. The market is still tight however, and homebuyers should be prepared to shop around until they find a lender who is offering something that will meet the needs of their family. In a refurbished movie theater located behind the Gettysburg Outlets off Route 97 in Gettysburg, you’ll find a new restaurant and Cider House. Mela Kitchen and Jack’s Hard Cider is focusing on a less fussy approach offering a more healthy menu. Glancing through the menu you will find an Italian touch. Serving Italian-style pizza that is baked in an oven constructed with imported bricks of lava rock, their pizza is exceptional. Creative pizza combos include fennel and bresaola (dry salted beef) and apple and bacon. There are many options to choose from. They ..read more

Ginny Davis is the Community Welcome representative for Adams County and has offered to provide some personal insight into local establishments in the Gettysburg area. Built in 1776, it is the oldest building in town and was used as a station on the Underground Railroad aiding slaves on their journey to freedom. Boasting 13 working fireplaces, this house is furnished with period appropriate antiques. A ..read more

The Farmer's Market in Amblebrook is a wonderful place to enjoy gatherings with family and friends. In the very early days of establishing this community and during the height of COVID, it was hard to imagine this location would be memorable for so many of the early pioneers working to put Amblebrook on the map. This Farmer's Market was the heartbeat of the community in the earlier days, enhanced by the opening of the Rock Creek Club. But the market will always remain one of the most treasured structures and gathering spots. It is ..read more

Yesterday, Lisa and I were invited to the “Launch Party” for AMBLEBROOK, Gettysburg’s newest 55+ community. It was a perfect fall day in Adams County and the attendance was excellent. Potential home owners were given the opportunity to hear from the developers and the builders about their plans for the community. They were also treated to a visit form Gettysburg famous visitor, Abe Lincoln. There was time to mingle with local vendors and enjoy a great buffet. I was particularly impressed when the developer, Robert Karen, threw away his notes and spoke from the heart about AMBLEBROOK as a ..read more

For the history buffs, here is a link for tickets to an event at Daniel Lady Farm in Gettysburg commemorating the 160th Anniversary of the Battle of Antietam. You can expect a reenactment of the battle along with an opportunity to tour the farm. I personally like visiting Daniel Lady Farm for it's history. My great grandfather bivouacked at the farm the night before his march to Culp's Hill to fight with 2nd Maryland during the Battle of Gettysburg. The 160th Anniversary of the Battle of Antietam will be held at Gettysburg's Daniel Lady Farm on 17 and 18 September 2022. Additional details and ..read more
