Hello all, I recently did an ultrasound to determine if my tingling in fingers is caused by carpal tunnel. I am yet to speak to the doctor but the ultrasound report says: “Proximal to the wrist, the median nerve demonstrates normal morphology and echogenicity. There is mild thickening of the flexor retinaculum at the base of the palm with mild flattening of the median nerve.” Is there anything (nerve flossing, etc) that you’d recommend I do in the meantime to alleviate the symptoms? submitted by /u/Feisty_Ninja_3015 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I haven’t made an appointment to get checked out yet but I have CTS in both hands (slightly worse in my right/dominant hand). It started during my first pregnancy 8 years ago, got a little better after delivery then returned during my second pregnancy 5 years ago. It never really got better since then and over the past year has gradually become worse. I also work part time as a dental hygienist so that doesn’t help anything either. I’m at the point of constant pins/needles in both hands, numbness in fingertips from thumbs over to ring finger, and on/off sharp pains in middle and ring fingers ..read more

Is this related to carpal tunnel?

Hi. I am a flight attendant (10 years in). Most of us have carpal tunnel in the industry. Mine flared up badly both times I was pregnant (twice within 4 years). My left side had the classic tingling and a cortisone shot in the wrist helped. Now if I do any type of repetitive motions like yard work, working out/stretching with my arms/hands, my left side hurts from my wrist all the way down my inner arm, sometimes all the way to my neck and back/shoulder. Is this part of carpal tunnel or something else? I can barely open my hand and fingers all the way up without excruciating pain. Anyone in t ..read more

Double endoscopic carpal tunnel recovery?

Hello, I need to schedule both my wrists for endoscopic surgery. The doctor I'm seeing said he pretty much only does the endoscopic method and from what I've read, the recovery time is much faster. Due to a time factor and work, I was planning on doing both wrists at once toward the end of the year so I can have a couple of weeks of light duty. To those whom have had both done at the same time, how was the recovery with simple things like wiping yourself, opening the refrigerator, typing on a keyboard, things like that? Also, how long before you were able to work out / excercise? submitted b ..read more

Had release surgery yesterday on my dominant hand. It was numb until super last last night (2 hours was a SEVERE underestimate ?) but I have a question (and I am calling my doc too, but wanted to poll the group). It hurts - as expected. However - I can wiggle my four fingers without causing any extra pain, but moving my thumb is like torture. Anyone else experience this? I do know that my doc said it was a pretty thick tendon that he had to cut. submitted by /u/SirPuffengruntz [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Had my endoscopic release surgery yesterday

I had my endoscopic carpal tunnel release surgery yesterday around 1:00 p.m. I was still numb when I went to bed at 11:00 last night. I did take a Norco yesterday when I got home and another before bed, but I'm going to try to manage from here on out with ibuprofen. My dressing can come off today and be replaced with a Band-Aid. I'm trying to wiggle my fingers several times an hour as directed. I can use my hand a little but there is zero strength, which is to be expected. All in all it's going a little easier than I expected. submitted by /u/BVBlonde [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Possibly having Carpal Tunnel Release if cortisone shot doesn’t work.

Hi, I got diagnosed with carpal tunnel a little while ago, had a negative EMG (he said that was common), and my doctor gave me the options of a cortisone shot, and ultrasound sound therapy but if these don’t work then surgery. Could someone tell me about their over all experience with this surgery, such as how long it takes to recover, what type of method did your surgeon use?, do you go to PT to recover or it is OT, is it painful, do you go under etc (these are just examples). submitted by /u/Nice_Organization_58 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
