Is there a name for someone that has a fear of things that are under pressure?

I tried looking this up on Google but it thinks I'm wanting to look up when a person is under pressure like anxiety and such which is not at all what I'm wanting to look for. I'm talking about thinks like balloons, tired being aired up and stuff like that. I've had an immense fear of tires since I was a kid because I had one pop on me and I can't even put air into my own tire because of it. submitted by /u/ARealCupcake [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hey guys, I've always been terrified of sharks and struggle to swim in the sea due to this fear - I think it might be thalassophobia? It's something I've never been able to overcome, and that inspired me to do some research for a podcast about phobias. The intention of the podcast is to be informative and entertaining but of course not to make fun of people who are suffering, so I have a couple of questions: Would you be interested in listening to a podcast about phobias - covering a different phobia per episode? Would you consider answering some questions about your specific phobias - anonym ..read more

I have a horrible, horroble fear of moose. You know that fear some people have of needles where even the thought can make them pass out? Yeha, near that. Everyday i thank god i live in texas. Im lightheaded writing this. People around me dont understand this, alongside some other zoophobias i have (geesd and axolotls to be exact.) they legit scare me with images. Pretty sure one day ill pass out because of it. How to make them understand this better and ways to cope with this? submitted by /u/bisexual_really [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Necrophobia is the fear of corpses and graveyards and such. Is there a phobia that specifically applies to touching corpses?

I have no fear of graveyards, I have no fear of the dead, or of dying, or anything of that sort. However, I cannot bring myself to touch a cold corpse. The freshly dead don't bother me, but I cannot bring myself to touch someone who's already gone cold and experienced rigor mortis. Is there a word for this? submitted by /u/whatsthat-afanboy [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I have a huge fear of doctors and mainly the actual tests. Even in my biology class this semester, I was so anxious literally just testing my blood pressure. I have to schedule a doctors appointment soon and I can’t even bring myself to call (doesn’t help that I hate calling people to begin with). Anyone know any way to deal with this? submitted by /u/supercaiti [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Irrational phobia of bandaids

Ever since I was a child I have had an irrational phobia of bandaids. I will not wear a bandaid and If someone is wearing a bandaid I won’t let them touch me until they take it off and wash whatever area they had it on. I’d rather get an infected wound if wearing a bandaid was my only other option. No it’s not because of the tiny holes I don’t have trypophobia. No it’s not Pittakionophobia because I’m not scared of sticky notes or just regular stickers. I don’t even think it’s me being a germaphobe because I’m honestly not..obviously I like to stay clean but I’ve never been scared of dirt or ..read more

Extreme sensory reactions - not sure what phobia this might be?

Even the thought of these things can make me itchy all over and panicked. It’s very physical and my skin literally crawls. Gaps between seats on planes/trains/in cinemas (not so much fear of dirt just the awareness of the gaps) The letters AAAAAAAAAAAAAA typed in succession (once had a full panic attack after seeing this in a text) The look of the sheep characters in animal crossing (I hate that they look like you can feel under their layers if that makes sense) The closest I got to an answer is trypophobia (which also irks me) but it’s not necessarily just clusters/holes that make me ..read more
