We’re still a few months away from the release of Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, but you can get a feel for the upcoming expansion and check to see if your PC can handle the massive graphical upgrade that comes with it via the official Dawntrail benchmark tool that went live over the weekend. The tool will subject your PC hardware to a battery of graphical and processing tests that will tell you how well Dawntrail will perform on your rig or whether you’ll be able to run it at all, especially since the expansion will come with new minimum system requirements and will discontinue support for se ..read more

Final Fantasy XIV Xbox Players Are Being Banned For Using LFG Tool For Guild Recruitment

It’s been a little over a week since Final Fantasy XIV launched on the Xbox Series X|S and it isn’t going as well as Microsoft would have hoped. Players not only have to jump through a few extra hoops to get it to work on the console, but its native moderation system is also wreaking havoc on the Xbox population. The system is censoring chat to the point that it’s no longer legible and reportedly banning players for using the Xbox’s group-finding tool to invite players to join guilds, or free companies as they’re known in the game. It’s a widespread and accepted practice on PC and PlayStation ..read more

Microsoft Is Giving Away A Custom Final Fantasy XIV Xbox Series X ‘Art Piece’
MMOs » FFXIV

Final Fantasy XIV is finally coming to Xbox next week and Microsoft is celebrating the occasion by giving away a custom FFXIV-themed Xbox Series X console to one lucky fan. The only drawback is that it doesn’t work and is merely an “art piece” that you can show off to your friends, as revealed in the sweepstake’s fine print. It’s a shame that it won’t be functional because it’s a beautiful-looking piece of hardware, in a gaudy kind of way. It also comes with a similarly themed controller which, I presume, also doesn’t work. Microsoft, however, will also be giving away an actual working Xbox S ..read more

There’s no denying that Final Fantasy XIV is an absolutely massive game, with countless side quests and optional adventures on top of the main storyline that spans the base game and four expansions to date. With the Dawntrail expansion’s launch steadily approaching, the question that regularly pops up is whether new players will be able to skip ahead to the new story arc and skip the Hydaelyn-Zodiark saga entirely. The answer is not at this time, but you can skip ahead to the Endwalker expansion if you’re willing to pay somewhere around a hundred bucks for the story skip and the expansions. P ..read more

Now that Final Fantasy XIV is in the final leg of its ongoing story arc, Square Enix has lifted several gameplay restrictions to allow players to make the most of their remaining time on Eorzea before they're whisked away to another continent in this summer's Dawntrail expansion.
