It’s been a little over a week since Final Fantasy XIV launched on the Xbox Series X|S and it isn’t going as well as Microsoft would have hoped. Players not only have to jump through a few extra hoops to get it to work on the console, but its native moderation system is also wreaking havoc on the Xbox population. The latest expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, titled Dawntrail, will be launching on July 2, 2024 with early access starting on June 28. Preorders begin on March 26 with the collectors edition expected to sell out within minutes. Preordering the regular version of the game grants early access as well as 2 in-game items: Wind-up Zidane minion and Azeyma's Earrings (grants 30% increased EXP up to level 90). With Final Fantasy XIV officially launching on Xbox Series X|S tomorrow, Square Enix has finally clarified how they’ll be handling subscriptions on the Xbox version. According to the studio’s official statement, players will need to purchase a separate copy of the game and a separate subscription for Xbox but won’t be required to have an active Xbox Game Pass subscription to play. You’ll also be asked to link your Xbox and Square Enix accounts the first time that you login. Final Fantasy XIV is finally coming to Xbox next week and Microsoft is celebrating the occasion by giving away a custom FFXIV-themed Xbox Series X console to one lucky fan. The only drawback is that it doesn’t work and is merely an “art piece” that you can show off to your friends, as revealed in the sweepstake’s fine print. It’s a shame that it won’t be functional because it’s a beautiful-looking piece of hardware, in a gaudy kind of way. There’s no denying that Final Fantasy XIV is an absolutely massive game, with countless side quests and optional adventures on top of the main storyline that spans the base game and four expansions to date. With the Dawntrail expansion’s launch steadily approaching, the question that regularly pops up is whether new players will be able to skip ahead to the new story arc and skip the Hydaelyn-Zodiark saga entirely. Final Fantasy XIV is running a colorful mashup of events later this month as it smooshes together its Easter-themed Hatchingtide event and the Japanese Girls’ Day-inspired Little Ladies Day event from March 14 to April 1. The cities that host the said events will be decorated just as they have over the past years, with Gridania being decked out for Hatchingtide and Ul’dah for Little Ladies’ Day. It’s been a long time coming, but Final Fantasy XIV is finally on its way to Xbox consoles for the first time since the popular MMORPG launched over a decade ago. The Xbox version is currently in open beta and will officially be launching on Xbox Series X|S on March 21 as revealed in a new Xbox trailer. Final Fantasy XIV players are getting another shot at obtaining the four-player Regalia car mount and exclusive Final Fantasy XV outfit pieces as Square Enix brings back the Nocturne for Heroes collaboration event. The event is basically a rerun of the 2019 and 2021 events and will feature the same three-part questline that begins with The Man in Black quest from Kipih Jakkya in Ul’dah. Now that Final Fantasy XIV is in the final leg of its ongoing story arc, Square Enix has lifted several gameplay restrictions to allow players to make the most of their remaining time on Eorzea before they're whisked away to another continent in this summer's Dawntrail expansion. Yesterday’s update bumped up the weekly Allagan tomestone cap to 900, which in effect now allows players to farm tomestones to their hearts content.
