Yesterday I replaced my front drum cylinders on my ‘71 FJ40. I used FC cylinders. Photo included. I can’t get pedal pressure on my brakes! It’s kicking my ass. I adjusted the drums to the point where the wheels wouldn’t turn and then backed off 3 clicks. I put Teflon tape on all 8 bleeder valves. Hey guys, My buddy is thinking about selling his 2001 Lexus LX470. I know every truck has its flaws, what should I be looking for in this model? It has arb bumpers, warn winch, arb intensity lights, slee scrape plates, total chaos control arms with icon suspension. Sliders. Arb half roof rack. Etc 235k miles. Pretty clean though. I have been hunting for a vehicle for a while that was smaller than my F150 for the trails, but more capable towing than my GX460. I poked around Gladiator Ecodiesels and the new Colorado ZR2, but everything seemed like a fairly large compromise. The Gladiator was great when I test drove it, and I was really close to buying one, but it has overheating issues and I had already dealt with that on my F150. 2004 w/5 speed. I went to do the pan only fluid swap, drained 2.75 qts out. Went to install new and realized I don’t have a dipstick…I know I should have researched this first.?. Well I didn’t have the 24mm socket or transfer pump needed to fill it back. I was looking right above the pan and removed a small 12 mm bolt- I was able to use the pump and hose I had to add the fluid back, my question is I assume that’s OK? Owning a FJ40 has been a bucket list item of mine for a Loooong time. Recently I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to purchase a 75 FJ40 from a family friend who restored it and was finally ready to sell it. It's mostly stock with an original power train. It has a few aftermarket items such as a Weber carb and aftermarket air cleaner. I plan on swapping the current wheels out to OEM units/hub caps and Installing an original air cleaner unit as well.
