Lanthanide Horizon Vignettes
The Nothic's Eye
by Locheil

This is a draft trade - my mangled document of halfbaked gun rules for two vignettes set in Archon's wonderful megastructure setting. I wrote the third of these, to complete the post. Art by Calder Moore In a dark room, lit only by a single spotlight, is a clear plastic box. Inside that box are tunnels. Inside those tunnels are people. They drink from a spring in the lowest sections, and use its water to grow grains and leaves. They sign to each other (as the walls do not permit sound) and chisel histories and myths into the walls with bone tools. Private places are coated in mud and surro ..read more

BORGIZAD BASE (Mazut)

The northern coast of Extranor is dotted with exploratory bases. Little grey and black mould-spots in the pristine white of the frozen outerland. Extranor is a series of lumpy little mountain ranges, ugly islands and huge stretches of rubble. A layer of rock, placed atop an immense, shimmering cuboid of stuck-force, called the Antipneumic Sheet. The stuck-force is translucent, and rings like a bell when struck. It’s indestructible, near as anyone can tell. If it is a perfect cube, it goes under the seabed, and the back half protrudes through the Boundary itself, out into the Psychodarkness ..read more

THE MYSTIC +1 Paradigm and +1 Power per Template.  A - Crown, Focus, Insight B - Telekinesis C - Telepathy D - Manifestation  Paradigms Paradigms are restrictions, in a sense (as we all know, restrictions create creativity). You pick your own Paradigms. They are phrased as “I will never…” Here are some examples: I will never kill anybody. I will never behave cruelly. I will never mistreat the meek and powerless. I will never speak. I will never leave the City of Iskadar. I will never let the sunlight touch my bare skin.  Paradigms are not just things yo ..read more

GLOGTOBER 23: QUITE SINISTER DEALINGS (For Best Case Scenario)

For semiurge’s Glogtober prompt: “Modern horror shotgun scenario.” - 08/08/19 [OPEN-EYE] Here’s the briefing: Two weeks ago, an American cargo ship that has been missing for six years washed up and ran aground in Long Cove, on Deer Island, Maine.  The ship is called the Honesty. It was fitted with amateur deep sea diving equipment, and was last recorded in the Flemish Cap region (a raised area of seafloor east of Newfoundland). Satellite and on-ground imaging indicate most of the deck cannot be seen for a large mass of seaweed and coral which has grown onto the ship. It was o ..read more

Answering the Famed sites of disastrous battles of the Blood War for Glogtober 23' Katechon Gulf Formerly, a sea of acid on Cathrys, a layer of Carceri dominated by deadly scarlet jungles.  To the north, a shapeless peninsula dominated by spiritual representations of all the sin committed during plagues, happily inhabited by dribbling, multiplying Tanar’ri.  To the south, a harsh shore cleared of jungle and rendered to acidic maroon soil, dotted all over with Baatezu earthworks, under the eye of a massive central battery.  This was the hold-point for the en ..read more

1d10 Counterspells
The Nothic's Eye
by Locheil

The original “Counter Spell” is older than recorded history, probably - it’s extremely crude, temperamental, and unreliable. Basically nobody uses it, because about 3-in-6 times you cast it, it fucking explodes.  Old texts suggest it used to work just fine - perhaps some flaw in a copy has become the mainstream, or perhaps, like some other ancient spells, it simply no longer works the same way…  Here are twelve alternatives and the eras they came about in. + Some notes for this post - As much as I love MD, they don’t quite fit with how I picture spells working in Aclas. So ..read more
