Sentinel Mk1 2 Ton Caravan Trailer Restoration

I’ve just purchased this military living / office trailer with the intention of it going behind the Scammell. It needs quite a bit of work, but at such a bargain price and close to home it was a no brainer. I’ve been after something similar for a while. The chassis is in really good condition, and still has all the brake system, levelling jacks, spare wheel carrier etc.  I’m intending on fitting it out with bunk beds, kitchenette, shower, toilet, table and bench seats. The wife is well keen and even came to the workshop and made a start ripping the old panels off today.  Wondering if ..read more

CVR(T) Scimitar - 07 FD 04

I think it's about time I start a blog about my current restoration project.   This is one of the diesel Scimitar hulls which Withams were stripping and scrapping about a year ago. The hulls were what was left after stripping the vehicles to build Scimitar 2. Pretty much everything was stripped from them, engine, gearbox, electrics, final drives, turret, turret ring, wheels, track and more.   I asked about buying some bits from them and ended up buying one of the hulls, which was a massive gamble. Diesel vehicles are rare in private hands and the diesel upgrade parts are highly sough ..read more

Another Matador

After a lengthy period away while we did things that were not even remotely military vehicle related we've found another project. We did a Pioneer earlier (Here) but never really liked driving it on the road because you always felt you were fighting the gearbox. Talking to a few people with Matadors suggested that they were nicer things to live with as well as looking quite good (the Matadors rather than the people who owned them) so we managed to track one down that had the makings of an interesting project without being ragged to death in a forest. This might be a bit dull for a few weeks be ..read more

Hi everyone. I know a lot of Us mourn the end of War & peace. But not the end of it's greedy owner!.... OK, I heard from a friend today, that the 'Show' has been purchased by a Gentleman in France? I cannot confirm this information personally. But has anyone else heard similar? It would be great if it were resurrected & be back on the show circuit!  W&P was My Annual Holiday, as I know it was for many others too. I do miss the 10 days annually at Beltring! So, anyone else heard this? Or have any update / confirmation ..read more

Humber heavy utility

Picked up a Humber heavy utility the other day and had it delivered yesterday. Work starts in earnest on Thursday, but weather is going to slow the strip down as we're putting it into the garage as we strip it.     There are a few areas of worry. I'm one of them as this is my first proper restoration. The cosmetics aren't a worry and the chassis is good. Then engine, gearbox, trans box and clutch are all perfectly serviceable although we're missing a carb and a master cylinder (although could be in the mountain of parts that came with it). The woodwork is going to be the horror. &nbs ..read more

Loyd Carrier

I've brought two Second World War Loyd Carriers which were recovered from a live target range in Belgium in 2008. I was not envolved with the recovery of the wrecks but was given the details of the Military Scrap guy which had them by a friend of a friend who was searching for Universal Carrier spares for his ongoing restoration project. Thanks Rich. There are no photos in this first post, but as the wrecks are arriving in two weeks I thought I'd start the thread in earnest. The plan is to rebuild two vehicles but initially one will take precedence with the other acting as a parts source. Many ..read more
