Folks, i found some useful products (convertor and extension cable) that allow nvme/m2 ssd users to mount their nvme ssd to other location and drive bay for better space and cooling. Hello everyone! My external hard drive has stopped working. The disc is no longer readable. When I connect the drive to my computer, the system asks me to format it. So i finally got round to reshuffling the drives in various PCs. The Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus stayed as the C Drive, the new MSI 480 Spatium became the new Steam drive, the Corsair MP600 Pro XT moved from Steam Games to DCS and the solid as a rock SSD stayed as my data drive for dumping screen captures and random programs. The spare drives either went into my new HTPC or into enclosures and became OS back ups. There was a fair bit of cross-decking for data as id previously had my Steam games on... hi everyone, finaly decided to pull the plug and build a storage solution, i went for a fractal design node 804 case, Be Quiet! 450w PSU, NAS J6413 motherboard, and 2x16tb ironwolf hdd (will probably buy another one to use RAID 5 and another M.2 as cache drive) i've got a few questions : my goal is mostly to use it as a plex server, pi-hole would also be nice, but nothing too fancy or advanced to begin with. would Freenas Core be ok for my use ? can i keep my data if i... building my first DIY NAS, might need some advices ..read more

I am looking for reccomendations for a harddrive for use in mye bequiet 802 pc case with my gamingPC/media server. This pc is placed under my office desk in my living room (small apartment), I have today a failing 8TB and 2 6TB Baracuda drives, and the noise level is not to bad. I am thinking of switching out the the 8TB bad drive and one of the 6 TB with a new drive of 12TB or bigger. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would need to implement a backup for a folder of about 7-8GB, which contains word and pdf files that are created/modified daily, in addition to other old files, also of other type, that are stored. I don’t know if in this case you need to make an incremental backup, differential or file synchronization. I tried Cobian, setting an incremental bacup of a folder to do at 21 of every evening, but I find in the destination folder a full named folder and several crtelle incremental calls...
