I have a 480GB Sandisk on a Windows 7 2006 laptop. I want to fully wipe the SSD before disposing of the PC. I downloaded WD Dashboard but on start up I get a window: “Failed to creat OpenGL context for format QSurface…lots of gobbledygook”. “This is most likely caused by not having the necessary graphics driver installed” “Install a driver providing OpenGL 2.0 or higher, or, if this is not possible, make sure the ANGLE Open GL ES 2.0 emulation libraries (libEGL.dll, libGLESv2.dll and d3dcompiler_*.dll) are available in the application’s executable directory or in a location listed in PATH.” I ..read more

Hi , I used my PC after some 5-6 months and only few minutes later my PC crashed , and was booting up in BIOS only , here even SSD was not visible in SATA connections . When tried to install Windows , no drives were detected , When I used CMD prompt through Window installation media , (Diskpart command) I was only able to see a drive of 14 GB which is obviously my usb flash drive. Any clue what could be happening here? At first I thought it was because I cloned using Acronis. So on the second drive I tried installing Windows fresh, and same issue. Every hour or so, the computer will completely freeze up permanently. The only way to restart is by holding down the power button for a hard restart. Firmware is up-to-date. My old Samsung drives work just fine which is what I’m back on now until this issue is resolved. I contacted WD but they just told me to RMA after running drive diagnostics that found no problems. I’m concerned that this is just an incompatibility problem ..read more

Hi, one of our customers complained that suddenly both his laptop and desktop pc were running very slow all of a sudden this week although everything still worked OK, just very slow, no error messages. We checked his pc, it was equipped with a WDS250G2B0A-00SM50 WD Blue 250GB SSD. Funny enough his laptop was also equipped with the exact same SSD model. We tried to clone both SSD’s to new ones. The maximum throughput for both SSD’s seems to be fixed at 2MB/sec. Cloning both drives took about 5 to 8 hours for both SSD’s on two separate machines. If we use a backup tool running on Windows on both ..read more
