On the subject of All Tones.... I have a Nox 700, and yes, I probably still am a learner on that too, but, I have been using All Tones since last summer, and now I wouldn't use anything else. Rarely do I dig iron; it does occasionally happen, but if I'm honest, even then 9/10 the detector has been telling me not to dig, it's just that I've felt I want to try it, that maybe there's 2 targets. The kind of things that fool it are those heavy weight ring shaped things, and sometimes big nuts and bolts. Statistics: Posted by Erik_the_Viking — Thu Feb 29, 2024 8:19 am ..read more

Tried this today in the field and it did work but not everytime.....I purposely dug iron just for you my friend.....thats how committed to assisting others I am...... The thing I did see though in my limited time was as always is to check the signal for repeatability from a number of angles....if it don't repeat each time forget it.....its the halo giving you a false lead on a coin signal. Thankyou massively for the advice and dedicated help gizmokev I’m going to try changing angles on a target and see how I get on Statistics: Posted by Jonno91 — Wed Feb 28, 2024 11:36 pm ..read more

Not got the 900 but have the 3030 and I get a double tap sometimes.....obvious iron signal and a lovely tone at 12-40 which is where coins would be. The moment I dig it all I get is the iron signal and the coin disappears. Doing a little research this appears to be the halo effect which occurs as the iron oxidises and leaches into the surrounding ground. The way to check apparently is to stick a shovel in a give it a wiggle as that will disturb/break the halo effect.....if the coin signal remains dig it out....if its gone you know its iron.... I have not tried this in the field yet as I on ..read more

What one did you buy in the end ? As I am looking at both of these Thank you Vanquish is a brilliant machine for the price point, multi frequency and very easy to use. Heard good things about the X-terra too but I went with the Vanquish. Statistics: Posted by Boots — Mon Feb 12, 2024 6:49 pm ..read more

With the 340 I used it without headphones. On the odd occasion when the wind was crazy and I could not hear out came the headphones. I found wired headphones a pain so avoid. Now with my Nox 700 would not use it without the headphone everything so lovely and clear!!......... Statistics: Posted by KevinB — Mon Feb 12, 2024 1:25 pm ..read more

The 340 is ideal to start with. I used it 3/4 times a week for 2 years. It`s not what you buy it is understanding the machine and believe me even with a basic one it takes ages. I listened to the guy in the shop took his advice and bought one I was happy to buy something a lot more expensive but he said "Start with that" it was perfect advice, thank you Nick. Remember the 340/540 are not waterproof but come with a cover. The 540 is nose heavy with the 12 coil. Good luck. Statistics: Posted by KevinB — Mon Feb 12, 2024 9:03 am ..read more
