I build a lot but don't box a lot, I don't know if that speaks more for my taste in pedals or the pedals themselves. In any case, I boxed this one!
Thanks to @HamishR for enlightening me to this Muff variant. I'm not a huge Muff fan, I value what they do and enjoy the tones but they don't gel with my playing style. He recommended the Basic Audio Alter Destiny for me to try out, and I was really happy with it. Essentially, it's a Muff with an added Mid and Fat (bass) control. I changed...

I have a pedal that I designed and built using strictly point to point for the circuit. I want to have a pcb version made but have no idea where to start. Is there a service for that? Someone designing the pcb from a schematic and enclosure size ..read more

A few months ago I was missing a pedal that I used to have but later sold, the Barber Gain Changer. I was kinda surprised that no one had released a pcb based on this versatile dirt pedal yet. Then I came across a post by @MattG on his design of a PCB based on the schematic and his builds of the pedal. I reached out and he was kind enough to send me a pcb free of cost as well as a printed BOM.
I followed his build threads and that of @MichaelW using the same PCB from MattG to...

I just finished Chuck's version (thread here) of the Animals Diamond Peak Overdrive and it sounds absolutely killer.
Not a single bad sound in it! Absolutely impressive and a must build for everyone, in my opinion.
It transitions beautifully from clean to dirty, and all controls are very usable.
I had no low gain Si transistors, so I had to use a couple (socketed) 2n3904's, but I'll replace those when I order parts.
I also had to replace the jfet, and gain was lower, but adjusting R2...

Hi! I recently bought and started building a Conquerer Fuzz before I realized I don’t have a 500mH Fasel inductor.
These seem hard to come by, also, I’ve seen in another thread that @Robert said the the board has been updated to use a variety of inductors, including the TM013-R.
After combing the forum I found a few other posts where people have used 5 100mH inductors, or a 42tl013, as well as other inductors or transformers.
I’m wondering is there is a full list...

Hey all! I finally finished putting this Duo-phase together and recorded a couple clips with it. As some of you may have seen, and even contributed to, I had a hell of a time getting the ticking noise from the LFOs to not be super audible, but after lots of trial and error with shielded wire, tiny buffers, and wire placement, I finally got it to a point where the ticking isn't present anymore. Once I got that squared away this thing fired up no problem and sounds really cool. This build was...

ordered this for myself, but ended up building it for a friend’s birthday gift.
i had high hopes for this circuit, it’s definitely gotten a lot of praise around many parts of the internet.
it’s really hard to make fair assessments of pedals like this when i’m a lot more used to better tools for the job (real tube amps, amp sims+IRs), so i compared it to a couple other similar high gain preamps/distortions (REVV G3, SLO pedal) to get a ‘baseline’.
opinions:
- 18V...

Don't know why, because they've been out forever, but I'm getting the itch to build a Timmy. I have a Lightspeed vero build in the works, then saw a demo comparing THAT to a TImmy, and now GAS it hitting me.
My problem is, I don't know the differences between the Timmys (v1 - 3) and Tim. Can someone sum it up?
Also, I saw the Timbre Man has a mid control added - is that easy to implement/mod in a Timmy?
Thx ..read more

Here's another mean sounding fuzz. When Roland released the double beat in the 70s, Japan had a thing with fuzz wahs. Like many of it's contemporaries, the AD-50 had a wah that left much to be desired but had a fuzz that was the standout of the pedal. The fuzz was supposed to be a bonus but ended up being the main attraction. This is another hidden Jem that I had not payed attention to and I'm glad I gave it a chance, so here is another fuzz from Boss before they were Boss.
The Aion argus...
