Get The Best From Your Weight Loss App
Breakthrough Weightloss

There are quite a few weight loss apps around that specialise in low carb eating, and they that can be really useful for weight loss if they are used properly.  For example, when you’re first starting out- they can be a useful guide to what a portion size should look like, and what you should be eating in a day. They’re also good for information on macros, tracking, being an accountability buddy (sometimes, but not always!), nutrition detailing and even ideal times for fasting. If you buy the pro editions, you’ll get even more detailed information and accountability data input. There’s a ..read more

The Power of Knowing Your Story…
Breakthrough Weightloss
by Bridgette

We tell ourselves stories all the time. It’s a vital part of every human experience to make up the narrative of our lives. We just can’t help it. Stories help us make sense of our lives and the people we know who inhabit them too. We tell stories about our childhood, our family and the things that happened to us. Experts say that story-telling is actually a vital part of good mental health. Without that defining narrative we would be very fractured human beings indeed, stumbling through life with no meaning or purpose. Now here’s something very interesting- they can be made up. We make stories ..read more

The negative stories that hold back weight loss
Breakthrough Weightloss

I put 1/2 a stone on around Christmas time and haven’t been able to shift it since.  I know that it’s not a devastating amount, but it’s at the top end of my ‘wiggle room’ and some of my clothes are feeling tight, and my body’s that bit heavier than normal. Maybe that’s part of the reason why I can’t seem to lose it…because it isn’t a huge amount…just a few pounds and I’ll be back to comfortable. It just occurred to me yesterday that telling myself a story that goes like this- “It’s not all that bad Bridge, it’s only half a stone so I don’t know what you’re worrying about!”. It just doesn ..read more

Why women are getting angry…
Breakthrough Weightloss

I asked a lady on the BWL PRO weight loss therapy session this Wednesday how she was doing, and this was how she replied- “I’m doing great, I’ve lost a stone in 6 weeks, but I just feel so angry, and I’ve got no idea know why!” As we all chatted with her, and asked a few questions to help her gain a little clarity, it quickly became clear that she was angry for the same reason that many women are today…and it’s something I’m seeing more and more…she felt cheated, and betrayed by the weight loss programmes she had been trying to stick to for most of her adult life. Go out of your way (Just a little), and watch the magic happen!
Breakthrough Weightloss

A few weeks ago I was feeling disgruntled, and a little bit resentful, if I’m honest… Why? No particular reason…I’d just had a few busy weeks at the clinic, it was a full-on time, with no spare time for me. It felt like everyone was having a great time apart from me! In fact, it felt like I was going out for my way for everyone. But definitely not for me! I remember thinking (about no one in particular…just anyone that was around me), “It must be very nice to have someone go out of their way for you. It must be nice to have that! How nice for you that I don’t go out of my way for myself, but I ..read more

Can Low Carb Eating Help The Menopause?
Breakthrough Weightloss
by Bridgette
1y ago
I’ve been on a low carb, high fat diet all through my menopause, and I’ve noticed a few very interesting things in the last 7 years. I’m 57 now, and went into the full menopause at 50. I’d already been eating a low carb diet for a few years, and believed it would be better for me to stay on it. Although the research was, (and still is!), almost non-existent around the menopause and L/C eating, there’s evidence building all the time on it’s health benefits in general, and my clients have been providing me with many, many subjective stories of old health issues clearing after a change in ..read more

What is the Cravings Cycle?
Breakthrough Weightloss

And how does it control our eating? “It’s very simple, and incredibly powerful. That’s the beauty of this hard-wired habit. The POWER of the Cravings Cycle lies in the fact that it’s actually created by your own sweet self.“ The Cravings Cycle is a holding pattern that consists of cravings followed by foraging, followed by more cravings, that will last forever if we’re not aware of how it affects our day-to-day behaviour. So it’s power is immense. I’ve written a lot in the past about the nervous system, and the little gland that runs our Fight or Flight reactions. It’s called the amygdala, an ..read more

What is TFT, and how can it help you?
Breakthrough Weightloss
by Bridgette

I trained in TFT in 2007, after becoming a hypnotherapist in the same year. I knew it would be a powerful support tool in my practice, after encountering it about a year previously. A colleague had given me this little routine after I’d told her about a worry I had, and I was blown away by the amount of time it took to dial down my anxiety…I would be exaggerating if I said more than 5 minutes. I simply didn’t feel that same churning sense of panic any more. It was completely gone. How can a simple little ‘tapping’ technique possibly manage to knock down anxiety, panic attacks, cr ..read more
