Colorado’s plan to reestablish passenger rail service along the Front Range doesn’t yet have funding, a name, a final route and station map, or an opening date in sight. Amtrak, CN Railway reach deal on repairs for Montreal service

A settlement payment by Amtrak to CN Railway is expected to be used by the Canadian rail operator toward track work on its Rouses Point subdivision, according to the two rail services.
“This track work will help mitigate, but not eliminate heat slow order speed limits going forward,” Amtrak and CN Railway said in a joint statement Friday, referring to concerns about high temperatures affecting the tracks.

The idea with a pre-clearance facility is that there are separate waiting rooms, restrooms, and other amenities so that passengers can enter the facility as they arrive (by bus, taxi, other public transport, etc.) and people using the pre clearance facilities are not subject to long queues to clear customs, so it makes sense, if Amtrak is running a cross border service with 1 stop in Canada and 10 in the USA, to use a pre clearance facility in Canada. Were such a facility to be built at Michigan Central, the sensible thing would be to have Canada Border Services Agency establish pre-clearance ..read more

IMO legislation may be needed to get funds from both countries for the necessary improvements and to decrease schedule time. From what I have read VIA legislation need overhauling anyway.

Isn't the facility at Niagra Falls one facility? Certainly last time at Pacific Central station it was one facility. Why not put combined facility at Michigan Central where isolation fencing can be easily built on restored platforms?
