New for the summer 2024 season, the Recreation Department is offering 11 new programs for both adults and children.
New programming includes:
-Paint along with Kara: Adventures of Dog and Bear, for ages 5 or older
-Bracelet Making, for ages 5 or older children
-Mermaid Class, for ages 13-15
-Water Safety Week, for ages 4-9
-Discover SCUBA, for ages 10 or older
-Wiffle Ball Tournament, for adults

Beginning Thursday, Jan. 4 at 8 a.m. residents of the City of Port Huron may register for the Port Huron Recreation Department’s upcoming winter programming.
Nonresidents are welcome to start registering at 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5. Due to a partnership with Fort Gratiot, Burtchville, Clyde, and Port Huron Townships, their township residents receive the City of Port Huron’s resident rate.
Popular returning programs and events for winter include SledFest, Oldies Get Goodies, Puzzle Palooza, dance, karate, babysitting, skating, painting and more.

Pine Grove Park is set to sparkle and shine for the holiday season thanks to the combined efforts of local businesses and organizations who have created life-size lighted outdoor holiday displays.
Individuals or families wishing to see the lighted displays may walk or drive through Pine Grove Park from Nov. 22 to Jan. 2. Holiday displays will be lit daily from 5-10 p.m..
Over 30 businesses and organizations are volunteering to install a lighted display for the 2023 Winter Celebration at Pine Grove Park.

Following a successful distribution day in mid-October, the City of Port Huron Forestry Division is holding a second wood and mulch distribution day on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Forestry warehouse.
Wood and mulch pick-up will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Wood distribution is available to those with a trailer and mulch distribution is available to those with a trailer or pick-up truck. Both wood and mulch distribution is limited to one load per person.

Stroll through the woods while trick-or-treating on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Port Huron Recreation Department’s Halloween Stroll at Sanborn Park.
The annual stroll begins at 10 a.m. with participating trick-or-treaters entering every 30 minutes. The last group of participants will enter at 12:30 p.m.. Adults and children may walk through a marked wooded trail in Sanborn Park to collect candy.

Free Rockin’ The Rivers concerts are ready to rock the St. Clair River starting Thursday, Aug. 3 at Kiefer Park.
For more than 10 years the Port Huron Parks and Recreation Department has been providing free music entertainment to the community, bringing old and new sounds for the blue water area to enjoy.

Professional actress, McKale Jude Bingham, is visiting Port Huron for the fourth consecutive year to lead the Port Huron Recreation Department’s summer Theatre Bootcamp for children in July.
This intensive program offers participants the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of theatre and showcase their skills in a full-scale musical production, all within five days. Over 100 young actors, in grades first through 12th, will participate in these four, one-week programs.

Come out and celebrate the grand opening of the new Optimist Park Skatepark with the The Port Huron Parks and Recreation Department on Saturday, May 20 at 10 a.m..
The community is encouraged to watch a free skateboard, BMX, and scooter demonstration coordinated by Alpine Cycles, Port Huron's local skate and bike shop, at the grand opening event.

Voting for the $1 million renewal of the Port Huron parks and recreation millage passed on Tuesday, May 3, 2023.
A total of 2,510 citizens voted for the parks and recreation millage, with 1,963 voters voting in favor of the millage and 547 who opposed. This millage will aid parks and recreation over the next five years, until 2027.
