Each year, James Beard hands me some fresh FOMO on a silver platter. The USA’s most prestigious culinary institution works similar to Michelin but is generally broader in criteria. In the past, I’ve been much more satisfied with something that’s been James Bread-approved rather than just Michelin-approved.

Texans can breathe a little easier knowing that Fort Worth’s own Panther City BBQ took home the Guinness World Record for longest barbecue marathon team — a record that was previously held by a team of Italian pitmasters.

On Friday, July 15, Texas Monthly and Travel Texas broke the Guinness World Record for the Longest BBQ Marathon Team in partnership with Fort Worth’s Panther City BBQ. The restaurant’s team of pitmasters clocked in a total of 40 hours, 49 minutes and 17 seconds of continuous barbecuing.
The BBQ Marathon took place July 13 – 15, at Panther City BBQ, with pitmasters Chris Magallanes, Mark Montemayor and Ernie Morales grilling nonstop through the day and night, preparing fajitas, tablitas, hamburgers and more. All food from the event was donated to the loca ..read more

Texas Monthly loved this Fort Worth staple for their spareribs, smoked turkey, sausages, pork belly burnt ends and pork belly poppers.
Texas Monthly says, “But the showstopper is the brisket elote. Layers of creamed corn, chopped brisket, queso fresco, cilantro, and hot sauce are a full meal in a cup.”
